I have done the ritual for 108 days when rahu was transiting bharani nakshatra in 2022 which coincided with my ongoing rahu dasa. I did use rice grains, black sesame seeds, coins and water for the ritual. The same being discarded onto a potted plant minus the coins. The same is done on new moon days with a donation to the monks for their dana. The new moon process had been going on for the last four years with flips and flops. The 108 days in 2022 was done with perfecture in the confines of my home and in private without anyone around.
