The day Ann Richards was buried was a really hard one for me. After the public funeral service held in the Erwin Center ended, I stepped outside one of the exits. Looking to my right and a little ways off was Kinky Friedman smoking a cigar. I had met him a few weeks before as it was around the time he was touring the state for his gubernatorial campaign.
I went over to say hello. That day, I found a great deal of comfort in hearing Kinky share his own sense of loss with Ann being gone. Now, it's time to say a little prayer for you Kink. Rest well.
Ann Richards, the last sane Texas politician and human being. The current governor is a waste of space.

For no reason known to me Kinky popped into my head today so I googled him to see what was new with the kinkster. Imagine my surprise to learn the world was a bit dimmer in his absence. His spirit must still be shining bright and caught my attention. Kinky, I hope you aren't lonely anymore and find love galore in your next life. I love you and I know I'll miss you.

I have followed Kinky for a long time. He used to sit in on Austin radio and the stories he would spin where top shelf classic stuff. Sammy Allred and Bob Cole were the morning hosts. They took phone calls as well.

I was a fan ever since. The world is a better place for his having been with us, and diminished without him.
