- Here I test out a DES system for the very first time and compare it to my Dandanator systems. You might want to refer to the following guides to help you.

Wowza
Yay, I get a shout out! Are you going to review the Mini? Love these cartridge based system, looks like a GameBoy Cartridge shell.
thanks Jason ! maybe I will ! pm me details about where you bought it etc and I'll put together something before I send it back!
Gameboy Advance cartridges, pretty neat idea to use those, I might have to invest in one myself.
They are actually Nintendo GBA flash cartridges. You can see the fake Nintendo logo on the red one near the end of the video.
have you thought yet that the cartridge with the issue may be a Dandinator cartridge? It acts the same and flashes the screen.
I'll do some more testing with the red cartridge, thanks for the tip
Nice review dude!!!
Thanks Pablo that means a lot coming from you :-)
@@amstradnoob you rule!
Hi Amstrad Noob, if you haven't already, would you please make a detailed video on how to burn Amstrad games to blank DES cartridges? Thank you!
have you seen this > www.amstrad-noob.com/2022/08/23/video-resetting-a-dandanator-after-it-was-loaded-with-a-512kb-game/ does that help ?
@@amstradnoob Yes, thank you!
I must say I'm a bit puzzled by such a system... Why going to the trouble of devising another proprietary cartridge format when using a widely available and standard SD card or even a USB drive would have done the job?
I have something similar on my Thomson TO8 and it uses a SD card to store the games, hundreds of games even if you can be bothered. I checked the website and all Dandanators are out of stock too which is not going to help selling cartridges... Yep, I really don't get it!
Are you sure the first two games are identical that might just be the same load screen
He let's it boot up completely later and it's the same.
@@anon_y_mousse thank u sir anonymous I missed that part. I was just trying to offer assistance
so i bought one off hobby retro... i get nothing on screen! nada, zip, zilch etc.. seems to all be connected right as the reset button works. strange... wont even show me the amstrad start up screen when a cartridge is plugged in. with any cartridge, i even tried a brunilda game cart from retroworks
if it's not showing the amstrad screen then it must be plugged in incorrectly, please verify how your connector is plugged in and watch my video again, in my video i first connected the connector cable incorrectly and that did not work at all, i then reinserted it correctly and all was good
@@amstradnoob im sure its all connected correctly as the cable only goes in properly one way on the dandanator and only fits one way up in the back of my 6128 for the length of the cable. strange thing is that the reset button will reset the console sometimes, i tried cleaning the bord contact on the amstrad, even on hobby retros instructions tried attaching the dandanator without its case as i had noticed the games were sitting in the shell slightly unevenly. closist i got to it working was one time for a few seconds i got some garbled sub space transmission.... or maybe it was just random pixels, only thing hobby retro says is i should post it them back, all the way from u.k back to spain 😒
@@kitsophrenik the connectors on the back of the amstrad can be troublesome as they are old, try cleaning it again with a pencil eraser on both sides (top and bottom), and re-position the DES. If it still fails can you email me a photo or 3 of how you have it attached ? amstradnoobATgmailDOTcom
@@amstradnoob thanks for the help, i dismantled my everyday amstrad and gave the connecter a full decent clean and it still wouldnt work. its deffinatly connected up correctly. however whilst scratching my head over it i noticed the included connecter cable was ever so slightly bellied, as if it maybe hadnt been crimped together enough? i grabbed the pliers and squashed the connecter together a bit and tried again and i got it to work! so i think maybe just some of the individual wires in the cable were just not making the right contact with the internal pins in the black plastic part of the connector... !?!😬🥴😒 who knows! i plan on havin another go with it all tomorow! cheers for the trouble shooting on this, nice 1 👍
@@kitsophrenik yay ! i'm so glad you got it working, thanks for explaining what was the cause too
Can you add your own games to the cartridges?
I don't see why not
@@amstradnoob cool, how?
@@mattmyers9351 well it's still a Dandanator at heart so the following is how you can load games - www.amstrad-noob.com/2021/02/21/programming-a-mini-dandanator/
Great Thing... Where to get?
I bought mine from hobbyretro.com/retro/cartucho-des however I don't see the DES listed there any more, so you'll probably need to contact them directly and ask
10:38 that actually says mojon twins which means uhhh.... shit twins...
these guys are really cool, is that what you were trying to say ?
@@amstradnoob yes, it's just a silly name. im sure there's a hint of irony behind the naming if their games aren't shit lol
Something I've noticed watching a lot of British TV shows and now British RUclipsrs is that you guys butcher Spanish. I don't understand why, it's not like you don't have tons of languages converging on your islands. In case you're interested, Google Translate can actually do a decent text to speech for Spanish. If nothing else, you could have fun making it say dirty words.
I wasn't expecting the Spanish text in this game as I only unboxed it during the video, and I'm not British :-) I do use Google Translate from time to time, thanks for watching !
@@amstradnoob Australian or South African maybe?
@@anon_y_mousse I'm Irish, living in Sweden :-)
@@amstradnoob Ah okay. I guess the Swedes can make accents neutral too.
@@amstradnoob I didn't know you're Irish! I lived in Belfast and Derry half a year. Lovely island, but terrible weather ;-)
