You have no business tryna compare it to NFl. It works in conjunction with the NFL. As more players get opportunity the more the league will be able to build.
The XFL was a great success and anything can happen when a team makes the playoffs and this give players a chance to stay in the United States and play football instead of going over to the Canadian league and players that play good enough will get a opportunity to get a invite to NFL teams training camps.

I went to a XFL game, DC Defenders. I went because I got free tickets and figured I’ll go and give it a shot. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t have lost out on prices of tickets, just the gas cost. But surprisingly it was great. Definitely a different feel than college football, didn’t have the same atmosphere. Different vibe and experience. I will say that the St. Louis Battlehawks have the most loyal fan base I’ve ever seen. For as hard as they got screwed over by the now Arizona Cardinals and then the Rams when they left, and they didn’t give up when the reborn XFL was halted by the pandemic. Their persistence paid off and now they have a team they can get behind, and a team that is all-in with STL. Even as a long-suffering Bears fan myself, I have nothing but respect for the Battlehawks organization.
Seattle dragons fan here Lol, I tuned in to every game and definitely kept my interest throughout the season , it was also fun seeing josh Gordon actually get time on the field
I enjoyed watching the games. The players were playing for opportunities down the line and for the love of the game. It was not college football or the NFL, but it was very good in its own way. The way the Renegades eventually won the title despite initial setbacks was inspiring. Some of the rule changes were innovative, especially making the conversion attempts after the touchdowns very interesting. P.S.: While the Final Four tournament was going on, I noticed the XFL games were scheduled to avoid conflicts with the basketball games as much as possible during the tournament. Some of the games were on at late hours, which also may have contributed to a dip in the ratings.
I really enjoyed it. I was impressed with the newer version than the second reincarnation of the league. I want to see the league expand with more teams to build excitement for football fans.
Everyone knows the NFL is rigged and it's slowly dieing. Never in the past have I been interested in the xfl bc it simply wasn't the league I grew up watching.. people are realizing just how fraudulent the NFL has gotten in the last 15 years. So people are wanting to explore. They keep changing the rules to a soft generation. To me, the NFL use to feel like your in the marine corps and your safety is about to knock someone block off. Now if looks like a bunch of girls with cool hair and flashy shoes playing tag football. It's become a feminine sport and masculinity is dieing. After 31 years of nfl watching I know without a showdow of a doubt it's rigged and nothing more to entertain you and grab your money and guess what. College foot ball is right in the mess now
I think there are a lot of hateful people who desperately want this league to fail so badly that it astonishes me. They can't see past the woke ass NFL.
The XFL is absolutely fantastic and I love having such a great Spring League to watch. I don't need it to be the NFL or College football. It more than scratches the itch for football I need scratched, and I can't wait to see it again.
Several guys have received NFL deals from playing in the XFL. It's fun, it's football and it gives good players a second chance, that may have had prior issues.
The XFL could be a great bridge for the college coaches/coordinators, international players, undrafted free agents, college seniors/on the outs alongside people stuck on practice squads and backup roles. It was such a fun season and I think we'll see that potential as people realize it-s here to stay and a proven case study for folks to get to the NFL. I love American football. I love all year American football (NFL, XFL, USFL, ELF). This year just might be the painless wait for the NFL and college football season to start.
Xfl is a great development league for the nfl. The Xfl is great, it’s also only the first season it will get better over time 👌🏾 as people become more acquainted too it OVER TIME! anyone who shits on the Xfl because you don’t do your research to understand that it’s partnered to the NFL to get players too the NFL honestly just get your negative comments and your bullshit out of here. More opportunities for players and entertainment for us is a good thing as a pure football fan. Doesn’t matter if it’s high school, college, Xfl, NFL the game of football is incredible overall!
The XFL was great! 3 point try after TD, the kick off, the on side kick or (4 &15!) Loved it! 8 out of 10 ! The NFL should have had something similar to this, however, they (the NFL) will benefit from it.
Matt you’re wrong the XFL is better in a few categories. One player engagement, I like hearing the players thoughts and feelings after a play. And two the rules the rules are substantially better and make for more excitement. But they get this liberty because they are a spring league and are allowed to try new things.
I’m from Chicago me and my homies went down to see a St Louis battle hawks game. The tickets where not expensive at all and the fans where lit in the stadium. I quite enjoyed the game while I was there and tbh like you said if your able to understand that there not trying to be the nfl it’s quite enjoyable
Me being the sooner fan that I am...I only started watching because stoops went back to coaching...so that's what brought me to the xfl...but then ended up liking it...only problem is: it does not last long enough
St. Louis embraced the BATTLEHAWKS as it is a great sports city and only lost the Rams since Stan Kroenke wanted the large TV market of L.A.. St. Louis was even willing to abondon its 20 year old Dome stadium to build even yet another outdoor stadium for the Rams but did need contribution from an owner. Learning of the Stan Kroenke indemnifcation agreement to protect NFL owners from St. Louis lawsuits granted their approval to move. I see the XFL as an exciting minor league such as the AAA level in baseball or maybe closer to the American Hockey League for the NHL. Like you, I have become a very big college football fan and understand why it is your favorrite. I think your assessment of the first season of the XFL is very fair. In St. Louis the BattleHawks were a 9 but understand your over-all grade of 6. Their St. Louis attendance for a game was 35,000 - 38,000 but would have given a 10 if their attendance had averaged over 50,000 for a game. I also do not know if the over-all rating viewership was good enough to continue but enough games were good to watch.
I went to the first DC Defenders vs. Arlington Renegades game in the regular season finale. The energy in the game was more like a college student section and the players were actually very good. The stadium was sold out. I loved it.
Nfl >Xfl>ncaa football> juco > high school. That’s how it should be after college, if players don’t make it in the nfl just go play xfl football. If you don’t land a college scholarship go play juco
Yes Matt, Saturdays from end of August til Championship game I am in front of TV from 7am until midnight or later!!!LOVE LOVE LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!❤❤❤ ROLL TIDE!!
This may be blasphemy, but I love the XFL more than the NFL. 😅Its just freaking wild what happens in the game. This season is a testament to how crazy it gets. You have a 10-1 team going up against a 4-6 team and somehow the other team pulls it off. WILD. Nothing is expected. I know some people may be pissed that a the higher rated teams didn't get in, but individually each of those teams didn't make it do to losses, or in the Battlehawks situation....a literal touchdown impeded them from getting in the playoffs. Every game is high stakes. It's also affordable to watch. I can watch every single XFL game on ESPN+ whereas in college and NFL I have to have specific cable/streaming options in order to watch the games. I can also affordably travel to the championship game and watch that versus a Superbowl/bowl game. I can also affordably buy season tickets and watch every home game if I please. People love football. They want to watch it and go to the games without becoming bankrupt.
New football leagues can't compete/ go head to head with the NFL. Lessons learned for the others who tried. In my opinion, watching college football and the NFL from Sept to Feb is enough football for me. Especially if you have a favorite NBA team that you're supporting in Jan to April.
I make a grocery list of stuff to grab on Friday so I can do nothing but lay around and watch college ball all day saturday without having to leave the house.
As a diehard college football fan that’s occasionally has trouble watching the NFL games. I love the XFL. It reminded me of “pro” version of college football. Style was like college football, but with the top tier athletes that didn’t make the NFL. As such I love seeing some of the names of players like Jack coan and AJ, McCarron.
In the NRL rugby league Competition in Australia, they have the Top teams and then there are grades that are a level down. If players that are struggling and not get playing time in the top team they were sent to the grade below which is called a reserve grade team. This grade would give the players time on the field and allow the player to find some form and hopefully be recalled to the top team. XFL teams could attach themselves to a couple NFL teams and could potentially have some of the practice squad members from these NFL teams play in the XFL in the off season so as to stay game ready and have them not just practice for five or six months and not play. Could potentially be a time for NFL teams to see what other NFL teams have on their practice squads. Could potentially raise the standard of play in the XFL? And the season was quick, so maybe a couple more weeks could see the competition look solid, but starting with what they dispalyed this season and then adding on from there could see this competition flourish. There's always potential to improve.
It was a nfl strike back in the 80s and after a few week the replacement player began to make names for themselves and to be honest it taught me the nfl makes the players more than the players make it . 40 years ago the ussafl did begin compete with nfl in player talent. But I think that the rock knows what its like for players on the bubble the farm system has been needed. Something that catches those who devoted their lives.
More enjoyable than the USFL. Watch both but enjoy it with fans in the stands. Did better than previous versions. I just enjoy football and these guys give their all.
The XFL finally has a chance to make Spring Football a permanent fixture in the professional football landscape. And in my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with the XFL eventually being a minor league to the NFL. But they need to do two things: the need to expand to more teams so they can play more games in a season, and they need to get out of the hubs and into their home stadiums 🏟️!
Your totally right Matt nothing beats a cool Bama saturday morning around noon thr smell of the grill with all the sounds of the game on TV and Bama.running out the tunel. The NFL can not compete with that in my humble opinion
Xfl already did things better the nfl. 2001 the nfl literally took ideas from the xfl, multiple things the nfl took multiple things from the xfl in 01 and adopted it into the nfl games camera angles and more
Too many haters dawg, clout football fans unless it’s been around for 100 years apparently it’s shit? Doesn’t make any sense too me, happy football is year round and I agree with you
I liked it, I thought the play was as expected, the production was good and I liked the rule changes. If there is a next season they need to change their playoff selection.
I enjoyed XFL this year, as many have said it's good filler for the college offseason. Hopefully we get a merger of the USFL and XFL soon so a longer, more competitive season is possible. Shoutout to my man Stoops, I was freakin ecstatic! Once a Boomer always a Boomer, Sooner Nation still has nothing but love for 'ol Bob
I really enjoyed the XFL games. Less delays and faster paced than the NFL. Seemed like less penalties as well. Play review was great. Needed more promotions as a lot of people weren't aware it was on tv.
All industries require a field of study to support, strengthen and recruit to maintain it. But football or sports tend to work in reverse with bottom up devoting lives to it. That said its alot of players who just miss out. Great athletes and late bloomers who may win their way into nfl later. So xfl or ussafl need to finish in time to play for the nfl. These are good things. A past time it doesn't have to be anything but a way to pay players to train.
The xfl wasn’t made to be a dollar general nfl it was a way to give more players an opportunity to play professionally these guys playing in the xfl have played in college it’s not randoms from the street these guys are trying to promote themselves and get to the nfl when you tune in you watch real talent

College foot ball is right in the mess now
Them STL fans are crazy 😂💯
Yooo the wedding comment 😂😂😂😂
Matt you’re wrong the XFL is better in a few categories. One player engagement, I like hearing the players thoughts and feelings after a play. And two the rules the rules are substantially better and make for more excitement. But they get this liberty because they are a spring league and are allowed to try new things.
i enjoyed the xfl. when i wasnt working on term papers and NFL wasn't on. I was tuning into other games and watching highlights.
Its legit. Like any start up it takes time to build fan following.
I love it too sometimes you see some players that you would never get to see play on an NFL team that end of being pretty good
I love it...went to all the defenders home games....
I LOVE THE XFL. i’ve been a fan of spring football since AAF. The USFL is nice too! Go Roughnecks!
Enjoyed it. It is another chance to get film to help reach the NFL.
I also do not know if the over-all rating viewership was good enough to continue but enough games were good to watch.
u guys think they should combine the Xfl and usfl?
I went to the first DC Defenders vs. Arlington Renegades game in the regular season finale. The energy in the game was more like a college student section and the players were actually very good. The stadium was sold out. I loved it.
Nfl >Xfl>ncaa football> juco > high school. That’s how it should be after college, if players don’t make it in the nfl just go play xfl football. If you don’t land a college scholarship go play juco
It's football. If you're a fan of football you should like it. It's football you can watch when there's no other football on TV.
Yes Matt, Saturdays from end of August til Championship game I am in front of TV from 7am until midnight or later!!!LOVE LOVE LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!❤❤❤
ROLL TIDE!!
The nfl just needs a true minor league make draft 10 rounds to 15 rounds add guys to minor league team.
I make a grocery list of stuff to grab on Friday so I can do nothing but lay around and watch college ball all day saturday without having to leave the house.
Nfl first, college second. I love having any other football when those two are not playing.
😂 The “Dollar General “ version of the NFL😂
As a diehard college football fan that’s occasionally has trouble watching the NFL games. I love the XFL. It reminded me of “pro” version of college football. Style was like college football, but with the top tier athletes that didn’t make the NFL. As such I love seeing some of the names of players like Jack coan and AJ, McCarron.
XFL was nice I enjoyed watching during NFL off season
At 33 seconds #2 was trying to let him score that touchdown lol
Player 54 was lit too
Fantastic and successful 1st season. Mission accomplished for season 1
My guys ankles got absolutely crushed @ 2:28 💀
It’s good on how it ended when it does. The guys can go to the mini camp with the NFL Teams
The XFL is doing much better than the USFL that's for sure. One day they need to merge so they will have more teams and the season would last longer.
XFL was great, to see some of these guys out there getting a chance to play again and then the quality was truthfully better then expected.
I want Colin Kaepernick to come to XFL so bad!
They have a deal with the NFL called player 54. The only downfall is they need to put more games on regular tv outside ABC, maybe CBS or NBC.
This league sent a lot of guys to the league I can see it switching owners but it’s not goin away any time soon because it produced.
Your totally right Matt nothing beats a cool Bama saturday morning around noon thr smell of the grill with all the sounds of the game on TV and Bama.running out the tunel. The NFL can not compete with that in my humble opinion
Matt happy you know the golden rule ! NO FALL WEDDINGS.
The XFL is great. The USFL is lame.
Trust me the XFL will stay. I can definitely see it. AND a potential merge with the USFL in a few years I can see too
Xfl already did things better the nfl. 2001 the nfl literally took ideas from the xfl, multiple things the nfl took multiple things from the xfl in 01 and adopted it into the nfl games camera angles and more
Man Football is year round now. Enjoy it.
I like the xfl because it gives players a chance they wouldn't have otherwise
DC Defenders home of the Beer Snake 🤘🏽
Massive upset by Arlington Renegades tho! 🎉 🏆
Such much blabbermouthing and never heard why the xfl is ending
As long as people keep seeing that players are moving up from XFL to NFL I think it would be good
I really enjoyed the XFL games.
The XFL was good football.
