Thanks man. Definitely a different vibe to the Ventoux route! Haha. Exactly the same route as what we did in 2016. Wild to think that was 7 years ago now.
Appreciated the long format man. Really kept it concise and interesting throughout with tons of amazing shots. You're doing something really cool for the road scene with this stuff 😘
Tristan: you never disappoint! Great story telling with action video and star appearances make for a truly beautiful experience. I recommended another BMC ambassador (initials are AB) to you after I rode with this person last week. Keep up the great work! I love my '23 b&w SLR 01 too!
Such a great video I planned on only watching half now and half tomorrow. Ended up watching the whole video; super impressive effort mate. Glad to see your back riding with a wahoo.
Olot is underrated. I've been fortunate to enjoy the sunrise there a few times. You chose a great route and I'm inspired to give it a go at some point.
What a mindblowing trip with so many amazing impressions and clips! The video definitely does the whole thing justice so no worrys needed there! So fun to watch, makes me wanna leave as well! 😊
not much of a commentator, and there are so many positive posts already but I felt like I needed to share my appreciation for your skills, storytelling, inspiration. great that u can follow your dreams and share that so widely. You have a great sense of modesty that allows us less skilled to feel that we learn but also dare to dream that we could push ourselves in a similar way. looking forward to seeing more of your content.
Thanks for sharing your incredibly beautiful ride! Just starting to follow cycling and I’m incredibly impressed with the physical abilities of pro cyclists. Very inspiring. Great channel.
Awesome ride! Despite the "credit card bikepacking" gear, would be really interesting to know what you brought - i.e. the bare essentials, and how you manage it throughout the 4 days (aside from cleaning the kit). Basically the same breakdown you gave for nutrition, but for everything else. Anyways, congrats!
Thanks so much Andrea! I’m in the middle of editing that exact video now, a complete bikepacking breakdown of everything I took. It will be released next Tuesday. 🙏🏼
NGL, this is an epic motiviational video for us cyclists who love food! Absolutely epic eating challenge, nice cycling thrown in there too 🤣 Need to up my weekly KMs, I'm only playing an amateurs game!
Hi, I absolutely love your videos and always look forward to your insights! I think it's important to note that recent oral health research has shown a growing concern regarding the impact of high carbohydrate intake on dental health for endurance athletes. Consuming a lot of carbs over a long periode of time, like you do on this trip, can highly increase the risk of dental caries, gingivitis, irreversible periodontitis and erosive tooth wear. While I understand the energy benefits of carbs during workouts, remember to take care of your oral health. Keep up the great work, and thanks for always providing great videos!
Awsome ride and a great trip. A lot of interesting thoughts and fueling insight to take away from this video/vlog/story. Now I have to go watch it a few more times because there was just to much to take in with that scenery. - good to see Ben out there with you for a bit !
That was great to see. I love the Pyrenees great place to ride a bike. I did the Aspin / Ancizan loop the other way round to you. Much preferred the Ancizan - seemed more rugged and raw to me. That said the surface is quite grippy - none of the smooth tarmac that the aspin has......lol.
Yooooo this was a MAD one mate❤❤❤ Storytelling you present is always a joy to watch-smashing it🎉🎉 Also -5800 el gain in a single ride🥴that’s months worth of climbing for me 😂
Followed you riding this one on Strava Tristan and wow, what a fantastic video to go with it. Really enjoyed watching that, I think the best cycling video I’ve seen on RUclips, very inspiring too, many thanks for sharing
Freakin awesome mate. You're a machine with an unbelievable backyard to play in. Such great shots, as always. Views are a little better than on my Botany Bay loop. 😂
That was a fantastic video. Any chance you could do a video on what you actually took with you. I’m keen to see what others take as I think I take too much but what ever or how little stuff you take really seems to work!
Nice journey, but you should have pushed a little bit more until the other side of the Tourmalet, because the West side of it is much more beautiful than the East side, and maybe harder. And not far from there you also have the col d'Aubisque which is incredibly beautiful as well.
a brilliant video Tristan really enjoyed this insight especially after seeing unfold on your strava at the time! Are you planning a strike mission anywhere next year?
Thanks man. I haven’t planned anything specific yet but I’d like to keep the concept going. Maybe a little further away next year..the Alps or Switzerland perhaps?
impressive as always im thinking a lot of others 5000 m of vert in one day! is my monthly target on a big month ! and then to keep rolling them out for next 2 days! well filmed, well documented. well explained, well in awe ( how you kept track of everything you ate i do not know )
Thanks Ant 🙏🏼 I had to make voice notes the entire way, knowing I’d be making that nutrition segment. Every time I ate something I recorded a video of what it was, then opened the notes app and would dictate out the kilometer, the hour, and what I ate. Definitely took some dedication to make that happen when I was deep into each day.
That's a lot of pre-packaged carbs to buy & carry. Every tried just taking a 500g pack of white sugar each day to mix in your water? Pick one up each night of the trip for 80c and top up the bottles as you need.
Awesome video as always! I'm curious about your kit, you said you washed it at the end of each day, was it dry the next morning? Usually when I wash mine (in the machine) they're not dry for another 20h or so.
Thanks mate 🙏🏼 Before I hung it out I’d wrap it in a towel and twist it up to get rid of as much water as possible, but yeah, it was usually 95% dry by the morning.
That's a sickening ride. I crash going up Epic KOM and AdZ in Zwift and you do 5k climbing on an 11-hour ride? Are you starting at IL Lombardia tomorrow?! 😉 Do you mind sharing your gear setup? I'd imagine you run a 34 cog in the back or your legs are easy super human or dead tired after a day?
Hahaha thanks dude. I run 11-30 on the rear, 53/36 on the front. 36/30 is enough to get me up most hills..thankfully none in this trip were too crazy steep. I’ve got a full bikepacking breakdown video from this trip coming this Tuesday. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@@tristantakevideo ride on! I forgot that you are not just a strong cinemaphotographer but also a strong rider. I will humble myself and look at your Strava data :-)
Another beautiful video Tristan :) QQ: I have the exact same helmet, where do you store your sunglasses? Struggling with my Oakley Jawbreakers at the front
Thanks mate 🙏🏼 Yeah it’s the one downside to that helmet. I either wear them backwards tucked underneath the back of the helmet or hook them over the back of my jersey with the arms folded closed.
@@tristantakevideo cheerios, I end up doing the exact same thing. Looked a lot into getting a safe helmet and the tech in the Spherical seems robust, strange they did not incorporate sunglass storage! Happy cycling Tristan!
I had 53/36 chainrings with 11-30 cassette. 50/34 chainrings would be more comfortable though..some of those Pyrenean climbs are pretty long and steep in places. I’ve got a bikepacking breakdown video from this trip I released just after this video if you’d like to see my full setup.
Thanks for another great video Tristan. Is there no border control between France and Spain where you cross? Not that it would be an issue, just interested 🙂
that's alot of gels, how does that not explode your gut? Just practice? or is there something else you eat afterwards to make sure you can eat that much again?
It takes a little while to adapt. In winter I’m usually training on 40-60g/hr then by summer 80-100 in training/racing. I felt totally fine with the amount I ate during this trip which was nice.
What an adventure! You are such a great story teller! Your filming and editing is superb! Motivating and informative..Gracias!!!
Thanks Antonio! Always appreciate your support. 🙏🏼
@@tristantakevideo 1st day a digusting amount of carbs but highly effective.
One of the best cycling vlogs I've ever seen! What a beautiful trip that was
Thanks mate, that means a lot 🙏🏼
I love the minimalist creditcard packing setup 🤙 great video
Your mixture of cycling and vidiography is unmatched. Thanks!
Thanks! You’re an absolute beast. Love the video’s, keep up the good work.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Superb Tristan! Directly to the Top2 videos from you! 💥
This is the content I would love to keep seeing more of! Great filming as always!
Thanks man. Really aiming to do more of this style into the future. Glad you enjoyed 🙏🏼
Oh man what a great video on the best roads! I agree the route blows away the Ventoux route. Mountains make it epic!

What is attach to the basis at the right of your cockpit ? Looks like a light ? (we can see it around 30:20)

Not at the top of the Portillon, and not in many other places where you can cross the border. Surprising, but yeah, that’s the case.
Interesting, thanks for replying 👍

Did he gain weight after eating all that energy each day? :0
oh, and did he carry all the energy bars and powders all the way or bought new each day? Did not really got that.
