It’s because gtav works out the point at which a vehicle ‘drowns’ based on the height of the exhaust for some reason. The field master and most semis have very tall exhausts, so they all have very good wading depths
The exaust in the pounder is programed to be the air intake of the truck thats probably the reason it cross with no trouble atleast thats my guess because it was like that in the duneloader

The higher up the exhuast is,the deeper it can go in water, as it allows the engine the breathe, also, the reason the pounder got to far was because it was redlining, keeping the revs high prevents the water from flooding, its just small details like that that are overlooked

Download a mod to remove the waves so the testing can be more accurate
Use an old version of the game like speedrunners do that removes waves after doing a mission cuz of a weird bug
