- Cinematic film of me riding this old, rare KTM 2-stroke beast from 1999.
It's amazing how good these bikes have already been almost 19 years ago when they were released from the factory. This specific model has gone through a huge overhaul which has made it even better. The power was insane!

I rescued my ‘98 380 exc from a certain death in my uncles tobacco barn. He wouldn’t sell it. Finally after 4 years of me constantly haggling him we finally made a trade. I installed new power dynamo ignition, new piston, filed the clutch basket, swapped carb out, new grips, new rubber, and fixed dents in expansion chamber. It has the “SiniSalo “ graphics kit that are still holding up quite well .She’s back to moving dirt again. I will never sell her. I love this bike. Great video. This bike is a legend!

Nice one what a beast of a bike. I myself have a 2009 Husky WR 300 with a 360 engine conversion it's a great bike/engine combination, just a shame they discontinued them.

I had a '01 380 EXC and as I was watching the back end viberate, I was like "Oh yeah, I definately remember that" The funny thing about the vibration was, when you were riding you didn't feel/notice it at all, but you sure did while stopped.
Yeah. One of the biggest differences with this and modern bikes is the vibration aspect. Makes your hands numb pretty quickly if riding in top revs.
Glad to hear i , m not the only one with numb hands i had a 99 380 totally rebuit front to back had the crank and rod done perfect and it was great to ride but man it freekn wrecked your hands kinda miss it but dont ha ha .

I had a few husky 360's and great bikes, anyhow one day I swapped my spare engine into a 2009 wr 300 and then the chassis kept up with the motor 😂. Looking at the ktm and with the updated 04-07 parts it would be the better of them I reckon 👍.

380 was stretching my arms a lot more. Very fun bike to ride, especially in open fields and gravel roads.
Its a shame that KTM
quit making these bikes.

The 380 is a 3/4 big-bore and I know these haul, I had a 1999 and 2002 bad a-- motor!!

Does this bike have a speedometer from factory? I can barely find anything about it.
Equalizer there are a few facebook groups and ktmtalk.com. No Speedo from the factory but trailtech makes some after market digital ones.

I use mine on the farm to pull the tractor out when it gets stuck.
Best film by far, music was spot on. No offence but the music is usually pretty shit in my opinion. Hope to see more vids like this one!

You should have given this bike your opinions like you do, when you try out new bikes..
Okay. Here they come: Very demanding engine to ride at top revs, very enjoyable at lower revs. The KYB SSS fork and stock rear suspension worked pretty okay, although they were a bit too soft for me. Tubliss system on the tyres was great but Kenda Washougal, a MX rear tyre wasn't the best option with it IMO. Very poor traction on rocks/roots, but on sand the grip was amazing. I was running both ends with 0.5bar pressure. The bike was very light to throw around. Vibration was only thing that bothered me when comparing to 17/18 models. You feel it on your toes and hands. Great bike for supermoto/field/soft sand, not so good for "traditional" Finnish enduro.

Blaster528 have you messed with the timing on the stator? Join the KTM 380 facebook groups, there's a few but only one is super active. Those guys can point you in the right direction. There's also a few guys, myself included doing full rebuilds. Good info and pics.

eamh2002 62 bhp stock. With the modifications we put in probably in the range of 65-67 bhp max. We haven't dynoed the bike so take this highly scientific guess with a pinch of salt.

WREK7 that sounds correct even a 500 stock is just about 60hp
