I had a quiz on literal equations and a question like this one was on it where the was the same variable on both sides. My teacher hadn't taught us how to solve this so she gave us the weekend to find out how to solve it and this video explains it perfectly.

You can cancel a rational coefficient by multiplying by the reciprocal. You can also take care of the fraction in two math steps multiplying both sides by 9 to cancel the division of 9... then dividing both sides by 5 to get rid of the multiplication of 5.

Around the 11:03 mark you multiplied everything by the reverse of 5/9 (9/5) can you explain why you did that exactly?
