This was an awesome video! I have been crocheting for a few months now but I prefer the look of knit garments over crocheted ones, so Im happy I found this! As someone in the comments said, this definitely feels more natural for someone who learned to crochet before knitting.
I had such a hard time learning to knit until I found out how to knit continental. I'd been crocheting for over 40 years, so this seemed to be much more natural to me than the English throwing method. Now, when I'm doing something like a rib, I kind of get panicked at the end of the row because I realized I hadn't been paying attention. But when I check, I've done it perfectly. lol
I’m teaching myself to knit and this video is right on time. I’ve been looking for videos like this to teach me the things the knit tutorials aren’t teaching the littlest tips and tricks to make my work neater and easier. ❤
Ty, I’m just learning and this video made it so much easier to learn. I was making so many mistakes the conventional way but this way makes it so much easier
Right now I crochet, but I really want to learn knitting and have been told continental will be easier for me to learn since I crochet right handed. This was very clear even not knowing hot to knit yet. Definitely subscribing so that as I start my journey I can follow your tutorials ❤
I knit continental, but I do the Norwegian purl for my purl stitches. So my knitting style is bit of a hvbrid of continental & Norwegian styles. It works for me.
Always glad to see your presence on utube. I have a question; does your one by one rib ever start to lean one way or the other? I’m knitting a 1 x 1 rib mens hat and the longer I knit the more the rubbing leans to the left??? Thank you in advance Diane
Hi Diane, my ribbing doesn’t do that but I vaguely remember it happening when I was a newer knitter. It may be a tension issue, like maybe you are knitting tighter than you’re purling and it’s causing it to lean. Its probably something that’s fixable with blocking, I bet you could straighten it out with pins while blocking
It's possible it could help, might be worth knitting a swatch with continental to see if it helps at all. I also have wrist pain and find lots of stretching breaks and doing hammer curls with a light weight helps a ton. The light weight lifting exercises seem counter intuitive but make all the difference for my wrist pain.

Thanks so much! As someone who started with crochet first, this style of knitting always felt like a natural transtion from crochet
I just switched to the Norwegian purl and it saved my life!
Been putting off learning this ☺️ and now in less than a minute I know!
That’s so great!

Thats great! It's always so satisfying to get to the end of a row without any errors :)

Mind Blown This looks so so much easier than traditional!!
Thanks so much! Appreciate it so much

i found that this works amazingly with the Norwegian purl method!

Thank you so much. I literally be waisting time going back and forth with one hand
i don't even know how to sew properly lol but this is soo cute!
Haha thank you so much! ❤️
I’d love to see how you’re holding and tensioning your yarn. I’m struggling with that as well.
I just use my right hand needle to scoop the yarn forwards…. I definitely want to try this technique though

@@TheBlueMouseKnits u sound like a genius :O
I have only ever knitted in the American method, but I have wrist issues and have wondering if learning continental style might help 🤔

What needles are you using?
I’m using Chiaogoo red lace circular needles (not sponsored, but they’re the only ones I use). Probably in a US 8 in this video.
Thank you for this demonstration. As a newish knitter I am definitely going to try this! 😊🧶
Hope you find it helpful, thanks for watching! :)
@@TheBlueMouseKnits I hope to remember to do this when I start knitting socks in the next few months. :)
