    What brand is that comfy chair you're sitting in? It's different than the one in your Amazon store

    • @GrandAdventure

      It is, Paul, although the one in the Amazon store is almost identical which is why we put it there. The ones we have came from Camping World: www.campingworld.com/macsports-club-chair-623443.html

      Definitely closer than the 2.5 hours it is for us to get there. It's a shame that the translucent azure hue of the water wasn't on full display while we were there, we chalked it up to the lower sun angle.

      We're not sure, Chris, you'd have to check with the local fire district.

    This may well be our last "Premiere". Right now, the feedback from our viewers on RUclips's Premiere process has been tilting towards the negative, and while videos that we've released through a Premiere have actually performed better on average than those released through the usual RUclips video-on-demand-only process, our first priority is always to our viewers. If you have any thoughts on the RUclips Premieres process, please share them in a reply to this comment to help us determine if we will continue to release new videos through Premieres, or simply revert to the usual video-on-demand-only method of releasing new episodes. Thank you!

      @GrandAdventure  5 лет назад +1

      Thrilled that you found us, Chris! Bear Lake is truly a jewel, and not just because of that turquoise color of the water that we were unable to capture in this video (and really wasn't on display that strongly during this visit -- we were wondering if it was due to the lower sun angle). It's also the agrarian countryside that surrounds it, the proximity of the mountains at Logan Pass, the ability to get away from everyone along the eastern shore...we just love it up there, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      Thanks for watching, John. And Happy Thanksgiving. For a creator I get it, at least views demonstrate that. For a viewer it gives them a chance to interact with the creator and others to ask questions, etc but our viewers don't seem interested in that. That's fine, we just want to do what's best for our audience.

    I was in Idaho over the summer, but the Idaho state parks are pricey, as you say, and June-August, not the best time. But I will have to write down the Utah side of the lake for future reference. Thanks for the great video!

    Hi Marc. Great Film. The Lake was so beautiful. Raspberry is Juliet favourite Shake Flavour and as you know she loves Ice cream so the Utah Shake is her perfect Combo. I have looked at the Premiere for our channel. It seems like a good idea. The only issue I have with it is the Caravanning RUclips Channel Community is quite competitive sadly, so showing your hand could be an issue.
    The plus side it gives your regular viewers forward notice of an up coming film. Thanks Phil and Juliet

      Thanks for watching P&J! I'm still torn on the whole Premiere idea. You can build anticipation for the video, but precious few of our viewers actually attend it, but watch the video on demand shortly thereafter.

    That is a definite change from the Jackson area. Looking at Google Maps, I see there are some mountains and trees not to far to the west. It looks like an interesting area to explore. I bet the wind can be brutal at those camp sites so timing is everything.
    Does it make you a little nervous to fly the drone over water? If there were a malfunction, I guess it would be good bye drone. Is it possible to put some kind of foam flotation on it?
    DJI is running some Black Friday specials on the Spark and Air along with some coupon discounts on accessories but no promotions on the Mavic 2. Still to hot of an item .
    Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

      @GrandAdventure  6 лет назад

      Hey Bruce, Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for watching! Those Logan Mountains west of Bear Lake do indeed harbor some excellent boondocking opportunities. They are, however, much higher than Bear Lake and therefore by the end of September, are a good 20 degrees colder. There's a spot up there called Peter Sinks that's the coldest place in the entire state -- it hit a crazy low -69.3°F in 1985 even though the climate in Utah is largely very moderate. That makes Peter Sinks the second coldest place in the Lower 48. Last night our low was in the upper 30s at my home here on the outskirts of SLC, and 31.0ºF at Bear Lake, whereas at Peter Sinks it was -11.8ºF. climate.usu.edu/PeterSinks/index.php
      Flying the drone over water doesn't bother me at all -- if it crashes over water it is indeed goodbye drone, but if it crashes over land it's a smashed drone. Same end result either way. Besides, I have the drone fully insured. State Farm sells a standalone personal articles floater policy that covers up to $5K of drones, computers, cameras, etc. for $60/year -- no deductible, full replacement cost, all risk. So basically if the drone crashes, gets lost or stolen, etc., State Farm buys me a new one. Another $5K of coverage, if you need it, is another $60/year. I have all of my equipment insured under that policy. And because it's standalone you don't need to buy any other State Farm products. It's the only policy I have with them. I'm not sure what actuarial thought that selling full drone coverage for $60/year was a money maker when people crash them left and right, but they'll eventually wise up. Until then, I've got their policy. And (knock on wood) I've had the drone for well over a year now, and no crashes or equipment failures yet. I renewed the State Farm policy for another year.
      If you do get a drone I highly recommend that State Farm policy. Just contact a local State Farm agent and if they're unfamiliar with what you're talking about (like the first one I called), contact a different one who is familiar. People in drone forums who have had to file a claim have had nothing but good things to say, a very quick investigation and rapid payment for the cost of a new drone. I can't imagine why someone would opt for DJI Care instead, at a much higher annual premium and requiring weeks to send the drone back to DJI, have them make a determination, then do what they need to do and get the drone back to you. And if you can't produce the drone because it disappeared into a lake, you're out of luck. Plus I've also covered my primary camera and lenses, my DJI Osmo+, my laptop, etc. for no additional premium. I just think that a lot of folks who buy a drone read the DJI literature and buy DJI Care without even realizing that the State Farm coverage exists.

      Now I am anxiously awaiting your January outing video from Peter Sinks! Burrr.
      I camped out once at -3F for one night before warming the next day. There were a few times between 0 and 6. It was interesting but not recommended. It is not the time for anything to go wrong and it is not a good idea to do alone in case something does go wrong. I did have the furnace fail during a 6 degree night trip but I ran the Honda generators all night with a couple of electric heaters plugged in. The main concern was keeping the pipes from freezing and it all worked out.
      Thanks for the details on the State Farm Policy. That sounds like an excellent way to go. I have read that the DJI policy required the return of the Drone and is more expensive. The drone taking a swim in the lake makes recovery unlikely. Your choice is much better by a long shot for the drone and everything else.
      When looking at Google Maps for Bear Lake, I saw a winter storm warning for Utah so stay warm and safe. Happy Thanksgiving.
