How do these plants "spit out" the remains of their prey, the exoskeleton, after they are finished "digesting" them? So far, I have only seen the remnants, laying there dead, after the leafs open back up.

The plants don't actually "spit" them out but rather let their environment take care of removing it. Usually rain or strong wind just blow it out the trap or if you grow it yourself you could just remove it manually
