I can understand why most of people don't like or even hate this game.. But i still disagree that this game is sucks or "it's the worst in NFS series". I am pretty enjoyed this game.
NFS U not a bad game. I think it's good, but not the big deal, especially coming from games like Underground 2, Most Wanted that were the pinnacle of NFS
Y'know the the greatness of Bonobo's music? All of them tell their own unique story. I like to imagine what each of them are trying to portray. For example, listening to this song, I imagine myself walking down the streets of 1920's New York in black and white, all the old model T's, gangsters in beige littering the streets like rats, corruption infiltrating even the depths of the law, crime more prevalent than good. Like an old film noir in my head. This is why I dig his music. Because I know no other producer who can make such interesting and enticing music with such personality and texture as can be compared to with that of a book. I love to listen to his tracks and try to work out what story they are trying to tell. Because I can never predict what will come next...
Very interesting. I like your interpretation. I imagine a samurai who has just woken up from battle, slowly opening his eyes to a bright red sunrise, hundreds of bodies lie all around him, he's injured but he gets up and starts walking, a sole survivor of this great battle, yet he cannot remember his name or who he is. He finds a path that takes him through the a huge forest, he is weak but he's able to find a small lake which he takes a drink from before fainting and falling into the water due to his injuries, as he drowns, he starts to see hallucinations of a young angel lady that dances with him underwater followed by a kiss. The kiss then turns into her saving his life by performing the classic maneuver and tending to his wounds. He suddenly wakes up, looking up at her and admiring her beauty, she smiles and stands up offering her hand to assist him in getting up. He takes a moment to focus on her smile and then her hand. He finally takes her hand. She then leads him to her horse where she gets on first and signals him to hop on behind her, he is hesitant at first, he takes a look back at the trail he came from, takes a glance towards the opposite direction and decides to join her; mounting the horse. They then ride off, following the trail into the dense forest.
DERP-DROP that is...amazing, really. I mean, what you wrote could make a very interesting story. I would have never got an ancient Chinese vibe from this, to be honest. The timbre more tends towards classical orchestral music symbolized during the early to mid 1900s. The suspenseful theme going on with the pure monotone in the background gives it a feeling of mystery, which is why I see it as something that is not quite as it seems. Corrupt so to speak. The classical theme also explains why I see it in black and white. And the introduction of percussion carries this on to evolve into something a lot deeper, confusing, more intriguing and mysterious, than could have be predicted. Just like that of a noir film. I guess this is why it suits the game so well, since each theme is of the same suit. Interesting though, how each person perceives the same thing, but with a completely different perception.
Yeah, I guess your interpretation makes more sense in that regard, taking all the sonic elements into account. But there is just something about this track that to me gives off that mystical ancient Chinese vibe, I just can't quite put my finger on it. ...Kind of a peaceful but at the same time uneasy feeling that paints that scenario in my mind. Or I guess it could be because I've just been on a Kurosawa binge lately and haven't fully been able to get samurai imagery out of my head. Either way, really fascinating how our brains work in deciphering music and creating an image or story that corresponds with our version of interpretation. As I'm sure Bonobo probably had a completely different vision when arranging this piece, unlike anyone else's interpretation due to his thoughts and mood at the time, as well as what kind of environment he was in during the creation of this track.
