Now that I think about it, not all therapeutic methods work for everyone.. EMDR may just not work for some but works better for others. SSRI’s don’t work for all people but work wonders for others. Ya know? EMDR has worked for me and many others. Maybe it just doesn’t have that same effect on others? Thanks for posting! Upon completion of the video I saw that we pretty much said the same thing lol.
Thanks @Cryoniczz11 :) We appreciate your insight and yes, agreed! I'm glad to hear that EMDR worked for you though. I'm sure your input will help others to decide if it's worth a try.
You also need to allow yourself to actually experience the pain and horrible feelings. If you shut that down you also won't get any improvements. I struggle with that so I'm a bit worried about when I start. Y'all are right though it's not right for everyone. Also I don't always rely on studies. They take time and are very expensive. If enough people online are noticing a dramatic reduction of symptoms and many therapists still use it then it's worth the shot. After all 4 out 5 doctors agree that Camel cigarettes are smooth on your lungs.🤣
I can understand quick session and quitting being an issue. Usually takes me almost a year to really trust my T. That said I'm about to try EMDR and the cool thing is the therapist I actually trust and been with a long time doesn't do it. Their coworker at the same place does. So pretty much I can hopefully do EMDR with the new therapist then process what happened with my old therapist. Trust is HUGE and a good gut feeling is critical for real therapy to happen and go into the vulnerable stuff. I waisted several grand not realizing this and knowing what it should feel like with a therapist. I never got real open and stayed way to long. If you don't trust the therapist or get a safe feeling just find a new one. If after 3 sessions you don't feel better time to go. Months more of therapy won't change it. Your body notices something that your brain can't relay to you. Just keep looking.
@edbrown5956 - thank you for sharing your experience so far. You make such an important observation! Trust IS huge and it's important to notice how much of the difficulty to trust might be about the time needed to build it. I do agree, that even if it takes time to open up (which naturally it can and often does), our bodies do get a sense of whether we can allow ourselves to feel vulnerable with a particular therapist, now or ever - we just have to pay close attention to what it's saying. Thank you again and I wish you all the best with your EMDR therapy and beyond.
@ edbrown5956 Im a ED nurse, and I look after alot of mental health patient.I also suffer from depression and anxiety. My opinion is most people from my experience give up on therapy is because they didn't feel a genuine connection for what ever reason with their psychologist/psychiatrist/counsellor,and end up disheartened, thinking that it was a waste of money, and therapy isn't for me.I have encouraged my patients, and given them hope, that if you can't connect to your therapist after 1-3 consults, that it's ok to keep searching until you find the right one that's a good fit for you. Also I encourage patients to do there own research and google, read reviews, and ask friends and family through word, and mouth of any counsellors they know of with a good report. So don't give up people,it may take time, and patients, but it's so worth it to have healing, and personal growth to deal with what ever mental health struggles you are going through. Sending strength, peace, and light to you all who needs this today. ❤🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
It should also be stated that therapy in general isn't right for everyone. Just like the meds your psychiatrist give won't always be right. Good video though giving both sides
As a therapeutic model EMDR is effective and efficient 8 phases process, a way to reduce emotional distress and provide distance from intrusive incidents, images, thoughts, feelings and sensations. It has been researched and approved as a psychological, focus therapy. as a therapist and recipient of the psychotherapy I agree, ensure you find an trained person to assist you along your journey like any talk therapy, rapport building is not diminished within the therapeutic relationship. I would recommend this therapy.

so it's nonsense but they use it because it makes money and has a placebo effect
You got it!!!!

This is true, and it could also be a timing issue. Thank you for your kind feedback!
@@phinitytherapy exactly. Thanks for the content I'm planning on starting EMDR soon and watching what I can from all sides.
Snake oil
Nice explanation.
Thank you Loren, glad you liked it.
Thank you for this.
Repacking old things is 💵
In more ways than one, the question is, is the payoff worth it :-/ I would say, more often, it is.
Money making opportunities out of the pain and suffering of individuals.... EMDR is wasting time, and will dilute our field (mental health)
Any therapy can be miss-used. Not all therapy methods works for all. The problem is therapists like solicitors, need clients.

Thank you for your useful insights @magicaine
Less days, less time less money for you all . But talk therapy is totally retraumatising
