I know this comment is five years old but was this your first intro to them? Or the whole album as a whole? My first intro song was blut im auge over 10 years ago and o had to pick up the album. My best moment is having a non metal listener react to them and ask if I understand what they are saying.y answer is "no, i don't speak German"
@@TorreblancaErik Growling is a good bit easier for me to understand when in German. (With a few singers as exception.) I think English is on one end of the "mumbleability" scale, German is on the other.
For me, maybe the best long-version metal track I've ever heard... A lot of rhythms and styles in the same track, all transitions are good... Love it !
Herbs grew from tears.. Love was hidden behind a sword.. The Forcefield Connected the very Stars.. We never knew how much holy water was enough.. We even Sacrificed our own blood to the moon.. We stood in the light of day.. And sang silently the lament of night.. The Evangelion of the Darkest Night..
Definitely one of the songs of all time. Me and my friends used to listen to it while watching the Battle of Minias Tirith from LotR:RotK. It feels like it was made for every scene change and camera cut.
Thanks man! If you like Gallowbraid, crank up your volume, and turn on "Stone of Remembrance" right when the afterburners kick in on takeoff. If you can time it right, it's amazing.
I knew this song for quite some time in the past and managed to recognize another one of their songs that had vocals too and decided to listen to a few of their songs. I just remembered about them now and I guess I will check out all their albums, the instrumental is just amazing.
The first song my bestfriend ever recommended to me. Takes me back. Use to listen to this whilst reading The Warded Man when it was still just one book in the series.
This particular song is just outstanding, one of the better instrumentals in metal for sure. Certainly atleast one of the most epic, while keeping that quality, variety up and engaging. The power, the energy, the emotion is overwhelming! I get huge goosebumps every time the flute hits in around 4:16 , to mention just one highlight. Some of the first seconds reminded me of melanholic Insomnium (their first album), portion of the energy brought Wintersun in mind (atleast their first album). Epicness and emotion hinted of Moonsorrow, the untouchables. They're the best Finnish band in this field, as far as i'm concerned. Perhaps not the most similar to Equilibrium as some other bands, just something that immedaitely came to my mind as impressions. Metal would need more great instrumentals.
René Berthiaume is truly a very good writer. You can notice that "parts that just Equilibrium make" are parts where René takes inspiration in every style without giving a shit. A good example is Unbesiegt, this latino melody, or the reggae in heavy chill. Or... the russian sonority in Zum horizont. He mixes metal with other thing very greatly !
I could mention two other instrumental songs that have also struck me so hard I know I'll keep them alive in me for life, if you guys might be interested in something musically relatively similar: Feast Of The Savages by Firewind, and Hyperventilate, by Frost. Hopefully you'll enjoy it too :)
+Bury Me In The Snow I often send this track to my non-metal friends, ask them to listen to it in peace and then come back to me with a story to what they've heard. Ofcourse it has no vocals, but it still tells a story. Funny thing is, they all come with the same kinda story. The rise and fall of an empire or a forbidden love story. Or a combination of that. ;)
8Biohazard5 Interesting! I see alot of German nature in front of me while listening this track. I see the morning sun rising, alot of animals coming out from their holes after a long winter and a beautiful spring starts.
Thanks :D, but I've already heard it as I occasionally listen to Wintersun :P. Sons of Winter and Stars is epic alright, but for me it just doesn't quite reach the same level as Mana does xD. Mana is like a whole movie, you have the whole story right there, without even needing to add lyrics :P
+Skylark Never said it was more epic, but it's defenitly in my top5 epic tracks. Some good stuff from Moonsorrow as well. And yeah it tells a story alright ;) I'll just copy a comment I made somewhere else here: I often send this track to my non-metal friends, ask them to listen to it in peace and then come back to me with a story to what they've heard. Ofcourse it has no vocals, but it still tells a story. Funny thing is, they all come with the same kinda story. The rise and fall of an empire or a forbidden love story. Or a combination of that. ;)

Jesper Anderson dude, sometimes the differences between genres are small, so small that you can't even tell which is which. Yes, this is a band of epic folk/viking metal. But they do have lots of elements we find in melodic death. I mean, Amon Amarth are considered Melodic Death, while I've never considered them as such. I think even they call themselves Viking Death Metal.... And anyways, I wrote this comment about 1 minute into the song... before the folk elements came in. Give me a break!
Laurent Jade Ahhh it appears my response from a while back was deleted... Dude, I was simply correcting you... no need for this excessive excuse. Plus, Equilibrium, including this song, has more elements of Black Metal than Melodeath... just saying. Amon Amarth are simply Melodic Death Metal, they are not Viking Metal at all. (Viking Metal being a Black Metal subgenre).
Viking Metal takes most of its influence from Bathory-esque Black metal, as well as nordic styled folk metal, it can be considered a subgenre of both. As for Amon Amarth, there is a difference between Viking Metal and Melodic Death Metal with viking themes..... Tyr arent exactly Viking Metal either, they have the nordic folk side of VM, but lack Black Metal, thus are not musically viking metal.
Just know people that I wrote that comment 1 minute into the song, it was my first listen of this band, and I didn't know yet that Equilibrium do epic folk metal. But as I said, the difference between genres sometimes are small
I have just discovered this band and understand that they r probably the most epic metal band ever. Even more than CoB - saying this as the total CoB fan. But right now can understand only the first 10 minutes of this song((
Because they are lazy to discover the world of music. Bands like Equilibrium, Nightwish, Ensiferum, HammerFall, Two Steps from Hell, Turisas are incomparably more powerful and epic than old hits.
Karl Kroenen Sabaton WAS something. Since 3 last albums (Heroes I think) they became popstars via Nuclear Blast and now always write same shit that works to be #1 on charts. Even the sound has changed, to be more accessible (where are the fucking guitars)... and I say it with sadness because I used to like them... but in my opinion money took their head and their passion.
This is one of those songs that will remain epic whenever you listen to it through your whole life
