I heard the Sonic Boom and was impressed with their sound. HOWEVER, THE HUMAN JUKEBOX OF SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY STILL HAS THE BEST SOUNDING AND MARCHING BAND IN THE LAND!! Their precision drill routines are the best! Their sound while marching and performing is fabulous, as is their Dancing Dolls!! The absolute best BAR NONE!!
This drill by the Jukebox was more complex than most realize. Degree of difficulty was max level. After the big circles becomes huge diamonds they then start the diamond drill. Instead of the traditional step 2 off of the line, four members leave the line together then spread to the step 2. This continues until the last 8 leaves the line together. Awesome and new. Never done before. This diamond drill is so fluid, lines straight as a needle and executed perfectly. This was a brand new drill by the Jukebox and easily the most complex and difficult drill of the night.
Its been over 100 every day since those young men and women arrived on campus. I'm certain that the Directors had to scale back practices... especially field show practices. You cannot judge these bands yet. I'm amazed at what they were all able to accomplish...
That was fantastic! Good job SU❤❤❤❤ I really enjoyed the dynamics throughout the slow tune. Especially the part around 7:42 where trumpet shined through. It was nice to see the separated 4 box routine( not sure if I described it right 😂) Su hardly disappoints! Good job everyone ❤

Ok so either Southerns sound is not as strong this year, maybe the camera is not that good on sound or Norfolk is boasting this year because I can hear Norfolks entire show while they are marching but I can hardly hear Southern while they are making formations.
The camera is fine. SU sound gets lose in the end zone’s while marching east to west. The focus at that time seems to be formation. NSU incorporates more north to south formation for sound and visuals it seems. Both are my favorite to watch overall. Much love for both bands.
Most sousaphones do that it’s not just SU and they don’t stay in the high register all the time….cause I can point a few tuba sections that does it all the time and blow themselves out of tune
Another crisscross. SU same show every week and year. Be creative. This band only wants to sound louder that anyone else. Thats nothing when you repeat the same feild show all the time. Being loud is nothing

Four boxes, put you horns down on the ground for the Fat Boys, Beastie Boys, or the Henrietta Hippos doing some side show dance routine. Human-Junk-Box will be at your nearest "Junk Yard" performing for the unlearned halftime show viewers...
Sorry… but the Dolls are still suffering from the Stamper-McKinley-Akai curse… They still look bland and behind the times. I love that the Dolls keep it classic as far as the counts and uniforms… But they really need to address their core issue(s). I hope they ban Akai from campus and Baton Rouge… I still feel her presence.
