|To the producers of this brilliant series: thank you for not unnecessarily embellishing the visuals of the structures with needless music or narration; It is rare to find 'negative space' in western informational programming and in this case it is beautiful to just let the visuals breathe with the actual diagenic sounds recorded in situ. It provides the most realistic experience of being there. In the visually dominated medium, we all too often forget that sound is as important an expression.
Steven J McNamee that is very true. i like the way these series of documentaries are made. similar ones like the sculptor Henry Moore, Das Bauhaus, M.C Escher, Le Corbusier, and probably other that i haven't watch or i do not remember now, are with the natural atmosphere, the narrative is perfect it plunges me into feeling all.
NO doubt Santiago Calatrava has an amazing imagination and great creativity but many of his buildings around spain has presenting problems in the instruction, leak, use of unstable materials etc... In spain Satiago Calatrava building's are cool, useless white elephants .
this video is for the people who understands art...but for some who made bad comment maybe somethings wrong on your mind because you never appreciate what is fashionable and advance art of an artist like Mr.SANTIAGO CALATRAVA work of ART..
there is something i like to say. 1st. I am not an architect, but yes i wanted to be one between many other things that i didn't do. Many years ago when i was younger i have this idea about the curve, and the bird, especially with ravens, it feels strange. it was a mix of ideas; a meteorite cutting thru the sky, and the sheets bedding hanging at my grand mothers patio after she washed them, blowed by the wind making these curves, or even a simple line traced on the paper. to see how something that acquaintances or friends saw as something very senseless, and mostly more people didn't like my drawings any way, i don't care really my drawings are neither good or bad or made to please others i just doodle, and now to see them executed by some one important that knows about structures and architecture as a piece of art. isn't that something? i like this stuff about architecture, engineering, painting, sculptures, math, and many many other things. these curves.... yummy!!
Well done IMHO. I like the way it relates to its environment and the care Colatravo took in making it mesh with the airport it connects to. The struts supporting the wings seem inspired by the bone structure of a bird. It is hard not to see echoes of Saarinen's TWA terminal at JFK. This is a much more complex structure though.
I'd like the axis of the main structure to be in line or parallel to the rails rather then perpendicular to them. Amazing architecture and in a huge scale.
The video explained the need for the TGV central tunnel to contain the effect of the fast trains's shock waves. And yet in the end it appears as if this tunnel was built as an open cage. So: The shock waves were just ignored? Not really an issue after all? Any explanation for this?
What do u think of the design of The Chicago Spire? Out of all his structures I like the final design of The Chicago Spire the best, which is likely to have construction restart sometime this year. It's also his most ambitious project yet, and one of the most amazing skyscraper designs ever.
If you cannot appreciate people's effort or even situations then the problem becomes more clear that the architect and his work are too big that ones mind cannot comprehend and so terms the marvelous work as trash..that said do ask, why was he given the contract and not you, the complainer??? I love your concepts and will surely love to see more!!
well I hope you all understand why we became architects in the first place is to express our selves better and well if you say that this is not true then you are lying to your selves or you are not a good architect since all of the famous architects did
Visit the Transit Center, the 911 Museum, then go to the top of the freedom tower and look at the Transit Center again. An appropriate building for the space and properly done for those who died from the 911 disaster. When you look below try imagining your dilemma, die in the fire or jump. I believe the final price tag was $4 Billion. As always these buildings are not easily built. You are building something that is one of a kind by people who probably never worked together before.
Good, however.... Not a green project at all and it should be ! In the 21st century it should have: gutters at the beaks of the rooftops to drive the rainwater to an underground tank. The rooftops should be covered in PV cells on the surface away from sight, these would generate electrical power that would feed a water pump to pump the rainwater to the public toilets, the remainder would feed the offices or the national grid.

His buldings are dangerous, fall or deteriorate very fast, and his declarations are always controversial to say the least. Even some of his students laugh at him, and he´s not exactly esteemed between spanish architects.
