My first music teacher at Junior High School 98 in The Bronx, was Mr. Dave Bargeron. I had the privilege of being one of his last music students when he left the teaching profession to go on tour with BS&T.
As a baritonist in school I had admiration and small sense of envy of trombonist. Love Chicago, BS & T and other bands with strong horn sections. The tuba player rocked this solo. Well done. Thanks for the post!
I’m 74 and have been listening to Laura Nyro since I was 17. Fabulous songwriter. She left us too soon. I never got to see her live, but I did get to see BS&T twice, the first time with their original lineup with Al Kooper. Their first album is still a fave of mine.
in my new band they play Blood Sweat and Tears and we have a female horn section and Maud who plays Trombone plays Tuba and Cello she reads the bass clef
David Clayton Thomas was a great singer and performer. However, in this video the lead singer is Jerry Fisher, who was also a fantastic blues singer. He has solid chops in this performance!
@@AndyEbon Do you know if there is a footage from the other "When I die" version with another mindblowing tuba solo from the live album? Thanks in advance!
I think he was at home, waiting for his famous brother, the singer David Clayton Thomas, to reunite with the band after taking 2 years off to try and get a solo career going. ☺️ DCT’s solo career didn’t do as well as with BS&T. He needed them, and they did well with him. I enjoyed the album Jerry Fisher (who is the lead singer in this video) cut with BS&T. However, my favorite line up was the very first, with Al Kooper doing lead vocals. No one sings “I Can’t Quit Her” and “More Than You’ll Ever Know” as well as Koop!

Dave left teaching like many because impending cuts. job ia dead end.
Just Wow.
Music that's not made like this anymore! This is a nice jam session.....
love these old videos that just get better with age!!!!!!!!

"Tuba player" is the amazing Dave Bargeron FWIW.
When I was in Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC, this was our theme song. We'd sing it on long marches.
The good music of when the world was a much better and peaceful place to live!!
Thank you so much i love music gems like this
A cosmic collision. A very bold and innovative improv band and the beautiful lyrics of one of the best song writers of our age.

David is the best. Marvelous. Peace and Love to all. God bless you all
Great band!!
Bs 7 t did VERY WELL with Jerry Fisher on lead vocals. He added such a soulful touch to their style. He was a perfect choice !

Está banda me faz viver uma vida que não vive. Rsrsrs
Heaven or Hell... as long as there will be Music like this I don't care...!!!!
Noch einmal weil´s so schön ist !!!

the best version of and when i die!
Baby Snake Try the live album from 1975. The version here (and this one’s great!) gets blown out of the water.
This is a song written by American composer, singer and pianist Laura Nyro.
Always loved this......longest horn part i remember
This is lovely in so many ways!
Just great!!
2:50 никогда не был так потрясен от игры этого инструмента!?
Amazing!
That's really awesome, thank you!

Best horn solo.
Rip Count Jackson. Best who ever did it
Now that's a tuba solo
RIP Bill Tillman..... :(
Just

RIP Jerry LaCroix
Epic Old School!
Wow...nuff said!
Yeah!💝💝💝💝
Harmonica vs Tuba. Wow
Jackie on harmonica and Maud on Tuba
in my new band they play Blood Sweat and Tears and we have a female horn section and Maud who plays Trombone plays Tuba and Cello she reads the bass clef
and she ain't no Dave Baragon
Nothing like a Tuba solo to make a song.
2:40 A Sousaphone solo!
💕💕💕
That`s right, she hasn`t gotten proper credit for all the great ones she wrote, That`s 110% %^$#@&` RIGHT!!!
Brass gets shorted when it comes to recognition.
Love BST music, something about those horns, drums and great melody and lyrics. Also, how often do you get a Tuba solo? Love BST. 😁🖖
Дэвид Клейтон-Томас(вокалист) шикарен. Тубист тоже неплохой трюк показал по тем временам
Вот тубист как раз и шикарен(он тромбонист, кстати). И что значит "...по тем временам"?

Where's David clayton Thomas in this concert?
Laura Nyro from Fairfield ct. who is singing here ? he does an awesome job on vocals !! must say
Jerry Fisher is lead vocals. Jerry La Croix on harmonica.
Jerry Fisher singing.
Thank you David - that's most definitely *NOT* Jerry LaCroix singing.
However that *IS* Jerry LaCroix on the harmonica and sax!
And, wrestling suck tambourine playing away from danger.
"wrestling suck tambourine..." uhhhhhh, what? hah!
I always enjoyed the 1 album Jerry sang on. DCT a tough man to replace!
Kurpark in Hanau
At the beginning Dave was like heck no ain’t got time to pick up the tuba oh nvm
I used to sit there and listen to him riff on the tuba while I read Spiderman.
@@frankiegee13 hell yea dude
Where is David Clayton Thomas at. He's the man!
UH....HE QUIT the band TWICE!
where did they find the lead singer?
YOU LEFT OUT THE IMPORTANT FACT THAT THIS PIECE WAS WRITTEN BY MS LAURA NYRO WHO WROTE THIS WHEN SHE WAS ONLY 16 YEARS OLD
3:13
Is there any BST video with Jaco Pastorius on bass?
Steve, not that I'm aware of. I believe Jaco was with BS & T about six months, and that fell between recordings. No concert video that I've seen.
@@AndyEbon Do you know if there is a footage from the other "When I die" version with another mindblowing tuba solo from the live album? Thanks in advance!
Laura Nyro from Fairfield ct. who is singing here ?
This band needs David Clayton Thomas. They always needed David Clayton Thomas. THAT blood sweat and tears.
Where's Phillip Clayton Thomas?

I think I prefer David as lead but this is good too.
When I die,I wanna see all my life.
Jammer zonder David !!!
En niemand heeft het door geloof ik
Scuse me on the harp here!
Jerry LaCroix
wth is this?..wheres the other guy?
Jerry Fisher wasnt hired for his looks....oooffff~!
Well, BS&T was never known for their looks pre-Jerry Fisher. He sounded good, though.
Not terrible, Though Not David Clayton Thomas, Not Blood, Sweat, and Tears.
Not even close...
that is not DCT!!!!
David Clayton Thomas bailed on the band in 1972 for a solo career and was gone until late 1974.
Is it me or is that a very bad hair piece in DCT?
cpu554 It ain’t DCT.
NO DCT
he is having problems with his voice...???
mariachi does not have a tuba! get ur facts straight before u post! banda has tubas!!!
