I just remembered something about training pilots, which might perk your spirits: I was stationed at an air force base on the gulf coast early 70's; there was a single engine propeller aircraft mounted on a pedastal as a memorial at the gate entrance to the base. We had Vietnamese pilots being trained in single engine propeller aircraft there. The story about the memorial aircraft was told thus: a Vietnamese pilot on a training flight flew over the Gulf of Mexico making turns; when he was flying upside down, he then received the instruction to pull up. He did. Promptly the aircraft went nose down into the Gulf of Mexico. They never got that aircraft flght worthy again, so a monument was made with it. What was that again about training foreign pilots?
