I spent 16yrs in my countries air force. We never got to play with the 58, but I was fortunate to use it on the range. The scenario was 12 man platoon (us) in an open position being discovered and attacked by a light mounted infantry unit. I was on the 58 on the right flank the 249 was on our left flank. I was told to lay hate as soon as the enemy dismounted 2x100 round belts. Followed by a quick barrel change and then take 3 round burst for another 2 belts with the second barrel. I weighed about 285lbs at the time and the 58 easily pushed me about 2 ft rearwards whilst prone. It was an absolute blast. I have been in 30yrds front of a mag58 firing rapid (blanks). And can confirm it makes you want to stay the fuck down. Even when you know it's blanks.

I did operate the Swedish KSP58, variant a lot during my service. We had one in every plutoon. It was mounted on top of our vehicle. Also placed strategically on camps of whatever we were doing. I also shot a lot of AA practice with the gun. I totally loved it although it gave me a quite some burns because we often emptied a whole box of 250 shots before we took off :) The Swedish variant have quite some external differences compared to the one shown in this video.
oh man, this reminds me of my service. I was a pointman/mapper (my primary was a g36ka4), but ironically enough often had to take-over the role of lmg-assistant. Had a sour-sweet opinion on the thing: when it runs (while somewhat heavy for what it does) its fun, when it doesnt - well.... you have basically an over-weight bolt-action. During my time in service, ours did not work all that well, especially during cold weather/winter. The hilarious thing about that gun specifically, was that the gas adjutment bolt just FLEW the fuck out, on occasion, and that the gun ran so shit during winter that not even it helped with the missfeed. tl:dr, my person experience with the FN mag LMG : oversized bolt action
Started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him. Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him? Maverick: Because I was inverted.
The 240 is either my second or third favorite gun I shot when I was in the army (behind the Browning M2 and the Mk 19 if you count that as a gun) but I have a bit of a grudge against it because it replaced the M60
Such a shame we never put in the time or effort to properly fix the manufacturing defects and design flaws of the M60 while she was still in frontline service. Only took a private company that was a subcontractor on the M60E4 that went "Well that fixed a lot, what else is left?" And they made the M60E6, which beat out the M240/FN MAG and was adopted in the 2010's by the Royal Danish Army. IIRC it even beat out the FN MAG for Mean Rounds Between Failures or Stoppages in some tests. I don't think it fully replaced the MAG, and is in the squad support weapon/SAW category, but I could be wrong and it's much wider issued.
dude at 0:20 when the instrumental for Marty Robbins "the Master's Call' started playing i got really excited and then was sad to figure out that it was just the instrumental
I used to have 50 ish rnds in the gun then 600 unbroken link in a grab bag (5.11 QRF bag i think its called) before the 50 were spent punch the two belts together, let it feed out of the bag and crack on, getting up just snap the belt and go, you can fit a further 50 per front pouch on that bag so if it got to using them it was a reminder to fish out whatever you'd coiled up in the top of the daysack, bonus points is it keeps the belt clean so as long as you listen to the cyclical rate and adjusted the gas, changed barrels decently and wasn't shy with the oil stoppages were far from frequent
Still highly recommended units and people practice and understand cover shoots. Put a steelie or a gong target 70% behind cover and periodically ring the gong. Also if your using a nutsack the last 5 rounds of your belt need to be solid tracer to let you and your team know your ammo status. Practice both.
Fantastic weapon! Used to be my main weapon in the Swedish Army. You want it to get as low in the firing so it sounds like a train driving past. About 600-650 rpm
In the belgian army we use recce by Fire, wich is schooting with 2 mg's 1 from left to right the other right to left and then you "herd" the enemy to the middle where the fire converges
The Holy Grail is in Valencia, Spain at the cathedral. You can see it online or visit it in person…cuz it’s on display. They even made a nice gold stand for it.
I think your Rhodesian Cover fire is a mix of two concepts of fire we teach nowadays: Grazing Fire and firing at known, likely and suspected targets. As many MG theory classes I’ve taught over a 20 year career, I never heard of Rhodesian cover fire.
As someone who tended to be the shortest and most....wideset, of their patrol you can bet your arse I was the one assigned to operate the Mag 58 if we were issued one, otherwise I lived with the F89 minimi. Because there is nothing funnier than the shortest bloke running around with the biggest weapon. One thing of note is unlike the minimi where 3-5 round burst was the norm, for the 58 were were taught to do 'long' 20-25 round burst. But loved the vid, and the accent that occasionally veared close to becoming aussi.

My dad used to run the FN MAG while he was a Belgian paratrooper. He hated carrying the thing on long marches as it would give him bruises on his shoulders, but he loved shooting it, especially at night when he could see the tracers.

I did operate the Swedish KSP58, variant a lot during my service. We had one in every plutoon. It was mounted on top of our vehicle. Also placed strategically on camps of whatever we were doing. I also shot a lot of AA practice with the gun. I totally loved it although it gave me a quite some burns because we often emptied a whole box of 250 shots before we took off :)
The Swedish variant have quite some external differences compared to the one shown in this video.
Love the aspect ratio and film effects in the beginning....
Its presence on the battlefield has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on military history, showcasing the unwavering spirit of those who wielded it
"We were firing the MAG from the hip like Audie Murphy" 🎵
oh man, this reminds me of my service.
You don’t need radical innovation in firearms design when Mr Browning already received divine inspiration
Ya know couldn’t be a better day when admin and grand thumb post on the same day
Started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him. Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him? Maverick: Because I was inverted.
Thanks a lot for sharing, I was waiting for this video since ages! ❤ I love your channel!
Tucket Carlson interview reference at the end was gold
Never get tired of the rhodie bits
Great video, its called ksp 58 in Sweden and its a workhourse in service.🌻🇸🇪
Still highly recommended units and people practice and understand cover shoots. Put a steelie or a gong target 70% behind cover and periodically ring the gong. Also if your using a nutsack the last 5 rounds of your belt need to be solid tracer to let you and your team know your ammo status. Practice both.
My country(Brazil)
uses them since the 70's, still in use today.
Fantastic weapon! Used to be my main weapon in the Swedish Army. You want it to get as low in the firing so it sounds like a train driving past. About 600-650 rpm
The last thing I expected was a Morgan&Morgan ad
0:20 The Master’s Call goes hard🔥🔥🤠
The Morgan & Morgan add was a throw back treat.
I love you videos every time Admin
I love you every time IV5351
I love these new short story video formats
In the belgian army we use recce by Fire, wich is schooting with 2 mg's 1 from left to right the other right to left and then you "herd" the enemy to the middle where the fire converges
The Marty Robbins track in the backround is *chefs kiss

Having personally shouldered a 240B standing, I must say, Admin is an absolute unit. You got strong arms guy.
😆
You are honestly the funniest gun guy on RUclips, more than grandthumb and any other guntuber. All the memes you show got my laughn on this toilet
Garandthumb’s videos aren’t as funny without Charlie to spice them up
The Holy Grail is in Valencia, Spain at the cathedral. You can see it online or visit it in person…cuz it’s on display. They even made a nice gold stand for it.
HOW SURE WE ABOUT THAT
But you must choose wisely
I think your Rhodesian Cover fire is a mix of two concepts of fire we teach nowadays: Grazing Fire and firing at known, likely and suspected targets. As many MG theory classes I’ve taught over a 20 year career, I never heard of Rhodesian cover fire.
mmm enjoying this new episode, with my newly acquired grill master shirt.
From a South African - good work my bru, this was a lekker video!
This one make Nostalgic. its allways fun to see the machingun I trained on and the uniform i had. No I am not that old and I have never been to africa..
The aspect ratio change was the icing on the cake 👌
The wood stock is a vibe.
Carried the C6 gpmg (Canadian version) lots during my time in. Had lots of confidence in it and was solid kit
As a half Afrikaner, half Rhodie, that accent needs some work brother! Cool to see internationals speaking some Afrikaans though. Also the Blood Diamond and Tucker Carlsen reference goes hard.
Gotta love the saul goodman add for morgan and morgan
My dad used to run the FN MAG while he was a Belgian paratrooper. He hated carrying the thing on long marches as it would give him bruises on his shoulders, but he loved shooting it, especially at night when he could see the tracers.
Took the larp to the next level with this one.
