      It's quite strange that Ange spoke positively of him before the season, kept him at the club, but basically hasn't used him all year... Maybe it wasn't Ange's choice to keep him around?

      I'd hope Spence starts but seeing how few minutes Ange is currently giving him I'm not convinced he's going to start him in this game. Could see him starting Porro and maybe bringing Spence on after 60 mins

    You're right, given the squad and current injury situation rn, along with Bentancur suspended, it's not realistic to expect consistency, all we can hope is the young players keep improving because they are the foundation of this rebuild

      @lewistickle4881 Месяц назад +1

      What about the months before when we were still inconsistent? It's not like we have only just become inconsistent either. It's the tactics as it always has been.

    • @RubenRodrigues15
      @RubenRodrigues15 Месяц назад

      @ we have a young squad and one that isn’t top 4 quality in the prem, and a very thin one in terms of the quality we do have as well, what a surprise we don’t win every game 😱

    • @lewistickle4881
      @lewistickle4881 Месяц назад

      @RubenRodrigues15 I agree our squad is miles off, but the majority of games we struggle in it is a tactical issue more often than not and our 'young' team have barely played in the league.

    • @RubenRodrigues15
      @RubenRodrigues15 Месяц назад +1

      @ no it’s not, in most games we didn’t win we had chances that we didn’t take, not taking chances is on the players not the manager, we had chances off the pressing against Fulham that Son didn’t take, for example
      And our whole squad is young, VdV is 23, Udogie is 22, Sarr is 22, Kulu is 24, Brennan is 23, Porro is 25, it’s not only the bench that has youth

    • @lewistickle4881
      @lewistickle4881 Месяц назад

      @RubenRodrigues15 You seem to forget that there are two parts to the game...defence and attack. In all the games we didn't win, we conceded soft/poor goals down to our defensive set up. Fulham out played us yesterday because they exploited our tactics and we had no answer, same as Ipswich, same as Palace etc. I don't deny we make chances but if we haven't got the quality to consistently take them, which we don't, then we are left so exposed defensively.
      These are the same players that are constantly hyped by our fans as being world class or generational, they cannot be both, world class and too young to be consistent? Which is it?

  • @2apur
    @2apur Месяц назад +6

    Great video as always.
    Sonny in the middle can work against high pressing teams, but maybe not against low or mid block teams. We did see it work last season, we were at the top of the table with Son in the middle, which is still our best run in the Ange era to this day. But for squad depth, it's much nicer running Solanke and Richi in the 9.
    Also, if you care, and not a lot of people do unfortunately, but if you want some tips on how to pronounce Yang Min-Hyuk's name correctly:
    Yang (Doesn't rhyme with gang. The a is an Ah sound [Yah -ng] ).
    Min-Hyuk is tricky, the H is silent, and the N carries over to the next syllable. So it becomes Mi-Nyuk. [Me - Nyuck] ). Go easy on the k sound though, it's subtle.

    Porro is great going forward, but when it comes to defending, theres a reason why our opponents find more action on the left side.

    Same problems we always have... poor transfer window catching up with us, no tactical plan B, and the overhyping of our average team and manager coming home to roost....also we have injuries but the three 'back ups' Forster, Davies and Radu were our best players and so does every other team. Not having that as an excuse

  • @rickinrio

    With the greatest respect Johnson is really frustrating. He refuses to instigate anything. A early ball to his wing is just pointless. He never stands-up his man to try and go past and rarely busts his nuts getting back.
    Then he saunters in for the goal and world has to say he’s brilliant.
    I like him on at 60mins when his ego has been skelped.. he’s good then.
    Like I said.. frustrating.

  • @HDsharp
    @HDsharp Месяц назад +2

    Its no excuse, we had one game a week last season yet we never showed the energy as fulham did.
    Difficult for Son to suddenly adjust after playing the wing for so long. He had chances, the kind of chances our forwards hadn't taken all season too.

  • @duyetpham2003
    @duyetpham2003 Месяц назад +2

    The shots are on Ange, do he risk his job and reputation by keeping two out of tank fullbacks of Porro and Udogie on the pitch? Or will he shows some guts by putting out Spence who is just struggling for minutes upon return and Gray/Reguilon? Same thing with that number 9 role, do he starts Lankshear there if Solanke is yet to be available or will it be yet another Sonny’s ghosting session? This squad is thin so the best is to just put out your best cards for some fresh legs.

  • @stevenlee-fb8ky
    @stevenlee-fb8ky Месяц назад +3

    I feel frustrated that we’re in the same position we’ve been in since Ange started in terms of injury. Clearly big Ange’s system requires players leave it all on the pitch every game, so he needs a deep squad.
    I guess we just have to be patient cause he needs time to get the right players in. A couple more loaners might have been wise though

    The Spurs manager scorns break-away movement that end in a goal. Fulham certainly used them. They were down in the goal area 15 times for every Spurs effort. The team simply has no dedication to getting forward. Which team is going to play about their weight--the team that time and time again speed toward the goal, or a team the likes to guard possession above all other objectives and simply passes the ball around aimlessly? The current manager has broken the team.

    We need new LB and Zalewski from Roma is way to go. He isn’t 11 starter but contributes from bench. He can play forward and has experience in defending.
    And the way how he play with Zielinski in polish national team at the LW is insane. Short fast passes, diving from left and shots from distance. Sonny and he would destroy some of these low blocks.

    Growing pain season ,inconsistency until the youngsters able to take up the roles of the seniors . That is the clubs choice , the rebuild season, weighed down with injuries makes the chances of Ange's silverware in second season, a record of continuity looking to be ended. Will Levy break another manager, on the high risk of young potential thrown in the deep end ? Expectation must be tempered this year, by all concerned. CoYS!

    For a while I've been wondering if Ange actually trusts Djed Spence or if he only has him in the squad to make up numbers. He literally looks tailor made for Ange's style of play.
    The style of play is very demanding on the players. In reality, Spurs need a larger rotation of players to be competitive throughout the season. Ange is a great leader and has good footballing principles, but it is telling that for most of the game Fulham were stronger and better motivated and their players were bursting with energy while, at times, Spurs looked like they were running through treacle. Spurs' problems are not tactical but strategic. Ange is understandably reluctant to put too much pressure on his youngsters and this is why Spurs frequently go from sublime to infuriating, because the first team regulars are overburdened and too often exhausted and probably demoralised too. They need relief.
    The squad depth is too shallow and while progress has been made, it may well take another two to three years for Spurs to achieve the consistency required that would see them play as they did against Man City (for example) every week. However, at SOME point, Ange needs to take the plunge and start investing more responsibility in his young stars. Lucas Bergvall is a good example. He's clearly a great player but often when he is subbed on it feels as if he is a passenger who does little to make the team stronger or more likely to score goals, to the extent I wonder what instructions Ange has given him. I'd like to see him being more adventurous. I think he can do it. I'd like to see Ange UNLEASH his youngsters. Still, it's a waiting game, exasperating as it often is.

    Ange's inability to adapt is becoming an increasing issue, not just tactics but timing of subs and selection. I understand the impact of the injuries but Spence, Lanksher , Bergvall and Gray are all members of the 1st team squad. He should have selected Lanhsher yes he is raw but if he is not good enough why is he in the squad. As for not playing Spence, no excuses. Can see the way this is going, without him learning from what is in front of his eyes we will finish outside top 7 and he will be sacked, possibly before the end of the season. He is about to blow his big chance by being too arrogant to adapt.

    • @rcr03
      @rcr03 Месяц назад +1

      yes the fulham game showed how terrible his subs can be at times. Werner was our best player whilst Son was terrible. Ange keeps Son on and subs off Werner. We need a goal and he takes off Maddison and brings on Gray.
