  • Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich appeared at a Moscow court for a hearing to appeal the terms of his detention. He is asking that his pre-trial detention be under house arrest rather than in jail. Gershkovich was detained in late March and formally charged with espionage. The US State Department has officially designated Gershkovich as wrongfully detained by Russia. CNN senior international correspondent Matthew Chance reports. #CNN #News

Russia during these dangerous times, he needs to sit back and think long and hard why he said yes. Rupert Murdoch who also owns FOX News must have thought because he is the right arm of the Republican Party, Evan would be safe, ummm. Hard to find any sympathy.

@@marshallmintz7564 No, but being in the vicinity raises suspicion. He was found snooping 25 hr drive from Moscow. By the way he was caught red-handed with military documents on him. There is no way he can be perceived as being innocent. Assange has a right to publish information from his sources as a journalist. The only way he can be guilty is if he personally stole those documents from a military facility. I don't know if you know this but back in 2013, US officials said it was unlikely that the Justice Department would indict Assange for publishing classified documents because it would also have to prosecute the news organisations and writers who also published the classified material. Under the Obama Administration, the Department of Justice did not indict Assange because it was unable to find any evidence that his actions differed from those of a journalist. It was only later ramped up by Trump because the statute of limitations was nearing. They even considered kidnapping and assassinating him. Why would they even consider this option if he was guilty?

Why We Do Need So Many People in the World
At the start of the 20th century, the world population was roughly two billion people. Today, it is roughly eight billion. Of those eight billion, most are poor, and over a billion people are hungry to the point of starvation. Providing for so many people at a decent level seems too formidable a task for Earth. Moreover, each day, more bots, robots, and automatic machines are replacing human jobs. Humanity is producing enough to provide for everyone, so the question is why we need so many people. Would Earth, and humanity, not be better off if we were only four billion, for example?
The truth is that we wouldn’t be better off; we would be much worse off. There is a good reason for the exponential growth in humanity’s population over the past century or so.
When we look at people, we see faces and bodies, human beings, and nothing more. But the truth is much more complicated and intricate than that. Try to imagine any animal without relating it to its environment, and you will realize that it is a lost cause. The shape, color, behavior, size, longevity, and every other aspect of its existence derives from the environment where it exists. Animals are not isolated from their environment; they rely on it, follow its laws, and at the same time make up the environment that sustains them and of which they are a part.
Humans, too, make up a system. We think of ourselves as isolated individuals, but we are actually parts of a global human society. We influence it, it influences us, and almost everything that is true for the animal kingdom is true for us.
There are only two differences between animals and people, though they are fundamental differences. The first is that people are inherently mean and selfish, while animals are not. The second is that our desires grow and intensify, while those of animals remain largely the same. While we want more money and power the more we have of them, animals settle for what they have once they have had their fill.
Worse yet, from generation to generation, we are becoming more greedy, domineering, and narcissistic. Conversely, animals’ “aspirations” do not change from generation to generation: Give them enough grass, or enough game, and they are happy campers.
The reason why our desires grow while those of animals remain the same is that an increased desire makes us accelerate our development. Eventually, humans are not intended to perceive only the physical existence, but to penetrate through it and perceive the connectedness and interdependence among all of us not only intellectually, as I am explaining it here, but in the senses, just as we perceive the physical world, if not more so.
Our constant desire to search, explore, discover, and learn stems from our aspiration to know the deepest levels of reality. That knowledge is the sole prerogative of humans since only people develop such profound desires.
As our desires grow, we must learn to direct them toward discovering the purpose and structure of life. New desires first appear on the crassest level, and we must cultivate them, raise them to the level where they enhance our perception of reality.
Because these desires are so intense, we need more people to “share the load.” As just said, although we feel isolated, we are in fact one system. Everything we think is ours is actually part of the system of humanity and all of humanity shares it. Therefore, our desires are also not personal, even though they feel as such.
Every time we elevate one desire from the corporeal level to the higher levels of perception, we influence all of humanity. And every time a person dies, the burden of elevating our common desire grows heavier on all of us.
This is why the life of every person is precious. It determines the pace of advancement of all of humanity. If we realized how deeply we are connected, and what harm we cause by mistreating other people, if we felt it as it really is-that we are torturing ourselves-we would not dare mistreat each other or leave one person uncared for.

It is uncomfortable to think that one day life will end. In life there are a lot of things uncertain, but death is the fate of us all.
Only one question will be on your mind and of utmost importance when you pass from this life and that is,
    “Am I saved?”
Our life has no real meaning apart from God. Men are dependent on God for their existence - yet we continually listen to the temptation to follow our own paths, abusing the freedom God has granted us in an effort to become independent of His control. When we allow this to happen, we forfeit the life of bliss and peace that God intended for us. We are filled with guilt and anxiety, ever aware of the sentence of death that hangs over us.
Without God, man is unfulfilled, even in his mortal life. Man is not at peace with his fellow man because he is not at peace with himself. Man is restless with himself because he has no peace with God. The pursuit of pleasure for pleasure’s sake is a sign of inner turmoil. Pleasure seekers throughout history have found over and over that the temporary diversions of life give way to a deeper despair. The nagging feeling that “something is wrong” is hard to shake off. King Solomon gave himself to a pursuit of all this world has to offer, and he recorded his findings in the book of Ecclesiastes.
Solomon discovered that knowledge, in and of itself, is futile. He found that pleasure and wealth are futile, materialism is folly, and riches are fleeting.
Solomon concludes that life is God’s gift and the only wise way to live is to fear God: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
You are loved. You are important. You matter. No matter what you are facing know that Jesus Christ is there. He loves you and He is the answer. To emptiness. To uncertainty. To struggles. To hopelessness. To fear. Most importantly He is the answer to eternal life.
The Bible says that because of sin we all have fallen short of the glory of God, but Jesus gave His life for you and for me on the cross. If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, this is what it’s all about.
The righteous judgement of a Holy God against sin is eternal death. But God loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to save us. The Son of God, Jesus Christ died in our place. He died for our sins according to the scriptures, He was buried, and he rose again on the third day. Through Jesus death, burial, and resurrection you can be saved. He suffered the horrors of the cross to keep you from suffering the horrors of hell.
No matter what your past may look like, through the blood of Jesus you can be made new and be sure that you have eternal life! Your sins are paid for completely if you turn to Him with your whole heart in repentance and faith. The Bible says to repent and believe the Gospel. Simply say,
“Forgive me Lord for my sins through Jesus who died in my place. I believe in Jesus that He died for me, save me now through Jesus Christ who died on that cruel cross in my place. You’ve raised Him from the dead and now raise me from death. Save me through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.”
