- The video provides an introduction to Kite Aerial Photography (KAP). See description below for details.
This was an impromptu, un-planned attempt to describe the basics of KAP. The sound track gets totally clobbered at several points due to extreme wind noise. Several important clips were excluded altogether due to wind noise.
The video was shot as part of an informal KAPnic (KAP with a picnic) at the Citadel of Montreail Sur Mer, France. (a side KAP trip as part of the larger Berck sur Mer kite festival).
Participants in the video included:
Jose Wallos - France
Emmanuel Colonnier - France
Jean-Daniel Chantelauze - France
Alban Vasse - Martinique (held the video camera (Hero3)
Sue Story - England
Wolfgang Bieck - Germany
Jim Powers - USA

Thank you so much for making and uploading this. It's very informative and interesting seeing the whole process step by step.
Glad it was helpful!
I have seen this from sailors to give a selfie kite view!!! Thanks for posting!!!
I like the concept of your video, but may have done it a bit differently to avoid the wind noise and have the ability to use any of the footage. Have all the speaking recorded indoors before and/or after and have music during the outdoor sessions. With editing this could have been a stellar production!
Agree, We did this on the spur of the moment. Wind noise was extreme!
Just purchased a Flexifoil camera kiteooking forward to taking it up !
Enjoy
Have you used the FF KAP system & how do you like it? I've been looking at getting one.
Is there another name for those clips used to attach the picavet line to the kite line (shown at 9:44)? Ive searched online for these items but can't really find anything like them.
Hi, you can find the KAP "brooks hang ups" on this web site under parts. Enjoy! www.brooxes.com/newsite/HOME.html
@@seewind Ah thank you for the name and the link. In the meantime, I ended up ordering some carabiners that do not have sharp edges.
Oh by the way, yesterday I had my first kite flying session in ages with a 9ft Levitation Delta. Though due to the wind direction, I was facing the sun the whole time (for a few hours.) I wore a hat and sunglasses but ended up getting sunburnt. Lesson learned.
You really need one of those furry microphones..
thats for the info
Thanks for posting. I had the pleasure of filming another KAP flyer here in my area. The video wasn't planned. I ran into Peter preparing to launch and we did the video. Here's the link if you are interested.
