I’m doing my first hiking overnight camping this month because of your films. Wanting to live more healthy and your films are inspiring! Hope to film some stuff too :-) Thanks for doing these films. I’ve never camped before. You inspired me to.
I just got home..literally 30 mins ago home here in Oregon. Just spent 15 days on Catalina. We actually have generations of islander family there. The snack bar at the baseball field is named after our grandma. I absolutely love this place. I am now back home in Oregon on the coast here in Bandon and the cool climate has hit me w a sharp reality check. Again, what a well done video. I just swam at Shark Harbor by the two rocks and the boats there. At 13:35 at the very right edge of the screen is a plant. Just 3 days ago I had set my backpack there and spent the day swimming at Isthmus. Thanks for the great video and it really makes me sad leaving but this video in its entirety allows me to think about the amazing journey I just had. Thank you...
I work at an outdoor store so all of my co-workers are hikers and gear heads and I have recommended this channel to each and every single one of them. We all love your peaceful and then informative videos
I was born and raised and Catalina island. Recently after 22 years living there I moved away. And let me tell you how homesick this video made me. Absolutely perfect video. The music , the drone footage. Everything. I appreciate this more than anyone else on here. Thank you.
I really appreciate you doing this. The thing I kept telling myself while watching was "If he can do it so can I." It's like no matter what is going on in the world you can't let that stop you from living.
I grew up in Avalon on Catalina and when this video popped up on my feed I HAD to click! You did such a good job of capturing its beauty. I miss it so much now I want to cry.
Hope you enjoyed your short stay on my home. Living in LA I've never gone to Catalina so definitely loved your idea and cinematography of this film. You do need to come back once the pandemic ends and head out to Channel Islands National Park and hike the beautiful islands. Santa Cruz is the biggest island with lots of hiking trails but my favorite island is Santa Rosa island just behind it. The beautiful desserted white sand beaches and the amazing hikes through the Torrey pines forests. I loved my time there. Just a great place to visit and camp.
I liked all the little clips at the end Kraig, that’s a good touch. People can skip if they aren’t interested, but many of us will enjoy the “extras” that don’t make the main cut. Thanks for sharing the hikes!
Thank you for helping me find the courage to venture out solo. I’ve always relied on others to accompany me in the outdoors for fear of the unknown, but your videos show that it’s possible to both survive and have fun with your own company. Keep inspiring :)
Kraig, beautiful video! Those coast shots were absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing and answering every question I had in the after section! Can’t wait to see your next one in WA!
I'll say this if no one else has, your on the way to 1mill subs. Content is great and true. Keep doing your thing, calm relaxing vibes and definitely motivation to hike more. Thank you Sir !!!!
I grew up on the Island and hiked every trail there was as a kid. Hiking for me is no longer in the cards, I appreciate the great video and drone work and the spectacular scenery. I'm homesick. Great Job!
I really love that you take some time to explain things after the silent film sections of your vids. What it was like, what you used, the gear, what you wished would have been different, all of that. I appreciate it. Now I want to look up that travel show you mentioned.
Beautiful Kraig. Great work! It is definitely a different and weird hike. You never really feel that you are in the backcountry so to speak. I couldn't imagine doing it in the summer. You are a beast. lol I'm with you...I prefer the mountains, but in the late winter when everything is green, it is really beautiful on the island.
Yes, your videos are inspirational. I have always wanted to do this but been afraid to go alone, and I started solo road-trip car camping/hiking in July thanks to you and can't get enough of it. Love every bit about it. Hope to start doing some of your trails in the future once I work my way up!
I grew up going to Catalina as a kid. Haven't been back in about 20 or so years. Glad you got to hike & enjoy the island. I definitely need to do this one!
Kraig, because of your channel and videos, I’m walking/hiking the entire Camino de Santiago over 36 days at the end of August. Thx for the motivation!!
Your videos are perfect! Exactly what I'm looking with hiking videos, simple yet full of emotion just from the vast landscapes as well as little valuble monents like pouring the wine and having coffee. I'm blown away by the drone shots too and the music choice is lovely! Thank you ♥️
You have inspired my husband and me ☺️ we will start our first hike in Utah. We have learned so much from your videos from food to clothing etc. Thank you for your videos !
Thank you for the content you make, helps me a lot. Makes it easier for me to study, having this on the table and just looking at it occasionally. Love!
im just genuinely so happy you got to visit all these beautiful places. i hope it does bring peace to you just as how your videos bring a sense of peace to us.
I just recently put the Trans-Catalina Trail on my hiking list. I want to save this one for either Winter/early Spring to avoid the heat. Loved all of your advice for planning this one. Super helpful!
Watching this reminded me of my trek back in 2019 with my dog. It was not as dry as your trek due to the unusual amount of rainfall we had that time of year. Definitely brought a smile to my face watching you stop and camp at the same places. Enjoyed reminiscing while watching this.
Watching some of this footage with the classical music in the background actually really reminded me of The Trip to Spain/Greece! And then you mentioned it at the end, I can definitely see the inspiration! Great vid Kraig!
Going on Monday. Thanks for the video. Man you are a beast hiking 20 miles a day. I have been working on hiking this past year with over 600+ miles under my boots in full pack. I have only been able to go 13 miles at most in a day. I believe I am ready for this. Thanks for the video.
Another beautiful, moving piece. Totally and completely inspires me to get out tomorrow.. I was already planning a hike, but maybe.. a little longer. Thank you for these, Kraig. Your art is impactful.
I honestly find your videos so relaxing.. especially with all that is going on now days.. glad your still making videos and traveling let's me travel without leaving the house truly amazing.. thanks for taking me along on your vacations
I just recently discovered your channel and your videos are so calming to me. I love the explanation of everything at the end and the little outtakes to see more of your personality! Thanks for the great content.
That scene in the end with the bottle of wine and cheese on the patio at the end of the hike was priceless! I've been to Catalina Island last year, and your trail hike looks inspiring! Something I'd like to try next time I'm there. Enjoying your videos.
Another great vid Kraig! I really like this format you’ve got going. After the wordless, meditative first part it’s really interesting to get a breakdown of the hike with the all trails map plus the other info like cost and logistics. And then I appreciate the comedic b roll stuff at the end. Altogether it’s a great combo! Looking forward to the next one.
your films are inspiring, Kraig. Im heading out west this week to some real hiking, Montana and Wyoming have been something I've looked forward to for years and your films pushed me over the top. safe hikes man!
Omg. Your end commentary/clips are life! You've captured my mental stages during hikes! It's funny what your mind wanders off to when all you have are open spaces before you!!
I'm originally from California and living in Arizona and I have been feeling especially homesick recently. Thank you for this video. I know it's not but it feels like it came at just the right moment and for me.
I thoroughly enjoy your content, videos, edits and the way you do provide a better way to understand your inside of mind. Love it and enjoy it keep it up. Kudos and pushing us to go out and explore.
These videos are very relaxing. I like the way you are editing these videos. 1st part only contain natural sound and 2nd part is very detailed guide. Thanks for making them. Keep it up
I have been watching your videos for a few years now. You have really gotten good at painting a picture with your video edits. I love these videos of these trail trips. Nice job my friend.
Very cool hike Kraig 👍😊🏃🏻 always enjoy your videos and your comments. I like your idea of adding in more typical tourist places and things to see and do. I do this on my trips also. Trying to learn more about the location and people is a big help before visiting so that I hopefully don’t miss an awesome opportunity 😎🎥🌎❤️👍😊🏃🏻♂️🎈thanks for sharing and safe travels
Well done video. I spent a couple of summers there at the Catalina Marine Science Center 51 years ago. The Isthmus was much less developed in those days. Memories.
That's definitely a barren, exposed hike. I'm in LA and have flown my small plane into Catalina several times, walking along parts of the trail nearby. Enjoy the videos. Super relaxing.
Just hiked this trail in early July. It was a bit of a boring hike, not much to see most of the time, and it was hot with no shade from the Sun so it was BRUTAL! I did enjoy the trails along the coast, and Little Harbor was really fun to be at. The water was refreshing and the rocks were fun to jump into. Glad to hear your take on it! Avalon was a neat city.
Great depiction of the Trans Catalina. I use to live and work teaching kids about marine life of on the island pre pandemic and hope to return in February. It is definitely a very sun exposed hike and most people tend to hike it in the spring/ early summer while Catalina is full of green foliage and wildflowers. The Bison on there are no joke, they have them charge us and our work vehicles a few times. Glad to see all the footage from this hike, man I miss living there.
Thank you. When I was 25 years old 42 years ago I went there with a doctor friend ( I was a student ) on his sail boat. I was so sick had to get a hotel 🏨 and go back on big commercial to San Pedro. Memories. Many thanks. You are a 😎 guy. Keep it up. Always have to eat that burger eh should have had a bison burger 🍔 revenge !
I enjoyed this video so much. I don't think the power and telephone lines are distracting. It gives me a sense of civilisation. It feels alive, for a lack of description despite the whole trail is a dessert island.
I’ve been to Catalina many times. I live in Southern California. Never had the desire to do the Catalina Trail. Not enough trees for my taste. But if you like fishing it is definitely a great place to go. And I’m glad you got to see two harbors. Quaint little place. Great video man! Glad you came to my part of the planet. 👍🏼
I love how the first half of your videos is just filming the hike in complete silence and the other half is explaining it. great format!
Totally agree

Great! Where are you going to hike?
Best wishes!
I’m about to do mine too! BECAUSE OF KRAIG.
Good luck and be careful, man! Speaking of inspiring - I made my first prof hiking video because of Craig. May be smb enjoy it. On my channel

I really appreciate you doing this. The thing I kept telling myself while watching was "If he can do it so can I." It's like no matter what is going on in the world you can't let that stop you from living.
I was thinking how weird this hike was, so many roads and no trees. The rolling fog saved it. This format is great, keep it up.
Thanks Kraig. Very enjoyable and so well captured.
I grew up in Avalon on Catalina and when this video popped up on my feed I HAD to click! You did such a good job of capturing its beauty. I miss it so much now I want to cry.
I think there should also be a sign under "Caution Wilderness" pointing the other direction saying "Caution 'Civilization'"
Your statement is thought provoking. I will be thinking about this throughout the week. Thank you.

Watching this channel is like making a bucket list! Everywhere you go inspires me and it grows my will to travel
Travel is overrated.
Gray Arctic Fox why?
Why wouldn’t you wanna see all these beautiful places for your self!!
@@Ezrabastian Your channel is literally dedicated to ASMR nature videos, how can you say travel is overrated lol

Kraig, beautiful video! Those coast shots were absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing and answering every question I had in the after section! Can’t wait to see your next one in WA!
So beautiful out there I love the solitude! Thanks for sharing
Loved this video of this hike. And yes, I love that you treat yourself at end with a good meal, wine & a good hotel. Thank you for posting.
You should had gone to Catalina Island during late winter or spring when the grass is green and the sun isn't trying to kill you.
agreed, i did in in winter and it was perfect
I'll say this if no one else has, your on the way to 1mill subs. Content is great and true. Keep doing your thing, calm relaxing vibes and definitely motivation to hike more. Thank you Sir !!!!
When you realize every shot he's walking away he's got to walk all the way back to get the camera hahaha. That hill tho :O
Haha how many miles do you think that adds on? 🤣
I thought he may have a very sophisticated drone camera, the Ariel shots are either his drone shots or some else’s from a plane, right?
Maybe he has his camera on a drone and he does not have to walk back to get it
Stunning views, very relaxing. Makes us want to get out and explore. Thanks for creating.

You are a beast. lol I'm with you...I prefer the mountains, but in the late winter when everything is green, it is really beautiful on the island.
