      @@shaynerism That's you. I wouldn't flinch because it's different and if I want different I will buy. I am sure there's something in that $12k build (say RGB fans) that someone could also say was overpriced because it's not their priority. As a matter of fact, I would say this because I am not a RGB fan fan.

      @@Methodical2Sure, I get it. I'm just saying that the value/dollar ratio just isn't there. Perceived value is different though, and is what sells this.

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@shaynerism I understood where you were coming from. No issues here. Just like the 4090, people will buy it and not care about price to performance/value etc. because they want what they perceive is the best. As you are aware perceived value is different for each person. I agree the price is high, especially when compared to the endless customization that Caselab cases offered back in the day, which were considered costly in it's day but many jumped on board because they could get what they wanted in a case. I don't think I would spend that much for a case myself though, but I know people will because when you see their PC build, you won't see thousands others; it will be sort of unique. Kind of like buying a Chevy Taho. You've seen 1, you've seen a million or you've seen 1 Lian Lou case, you've seen thousands.

    I was very looking forward to this case because I wanted to get my hand on an 909EK InWin for such a long time but couldn't.
    So what I can see so far and what I like about the case:
    -The aestehic is insane, very clean and the build quality seems lit
    -Modularity (rotating components as you like, prebuilding stuff, sliding them in and so on)
    -Not overloaded by RGB and stuff
    But the downsides (for me):
    -Price. I know for handcrafted and machined products, there will allways be charged a higher price. However if you want to bring a piece of art to the crowd, why would you go for compromises? If you would have machined a case comparable to a 909EK, with like a built in distroplate as motherboard tray or similar stuff and would have charged like 2k+$ I would have bought it. I cannot speak for everyone, but there is something missing here.
    -Design stuff. I could not find a front USB here. I know it could have potentially destroyed the aestetic of the case but come on, there is allways a way to hide it and people are still using it
    -PSU cord. I only found a notch inside the rear part of the case where you can run your power cable out. Not a big issue, but I would like to get a connection point on the back of my case instead of routing the cable to the back and loosing cable length.
    Hope it may be helpfull somehow.

    • @JR23Design
      @JR23Design 7 месяцев назад

      Absolutely fair comments that are helpful. Don't take this is a retort, its just an explanation, but fundamentally the 977EK was built on 909EK feedback. Entry price was too high at $1500, no glass side panels, no dust filters and it can't be un-inverted. And then also to have more than 200 available since the aforementioned things would open it to a wider audience.
      It does do all that well, very well, and maintains the 909EK quality of finish. Naturally the distro and cable management were sacrificed from the base case, but we can make those available to have another $2k hyper-case no problem. It also had to get positioned around the Torsion A60 to an extent and with this we tried to cater to the opposite audience who don't want to give up dust filters, power buttons and having giant open holes for cats to fall inside.

    • @zrav1522
      @zrav1522 7 месяцев назад

      Agreed, the lack of a case-mounted PSU cable connector and USB/audio jacks diminishes what is otherwise a great design.

    • @molethan6138
      @molethan6138 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@JR23DesignYou are telling me that TG, dust filters and a distro cost 700??? Cases that are sub-$100 have tg and dust filters, and most distro plates are $200-$300.
      You guys should have just made a case to 909EK standard and lowered the price.
      The 977EK isnt even limited edition so it basically is just an overpriced O11 or 303. And if i want this level of build-quality, ill just go buy an Inwin case.
      The sliding rail stuff would be cool on a EK-Pro case, but it doesnt matter on this when you still have to take down the entire loop to remove anything.
      The Torison A60 confuses me even more, it costs $1,000 more than a comparable singularity computer case, and all three radiators are pushed up against the motherboard so the airflow design is horrendous.

  • @shaynerism
    @shaynerism 7 месяцев назад +7

    Nice case, but simply overpriced. That cost is unjustified for what it is. There's nothing miraculous about the build quality/size/materials/workmanship that make it worth that. A bit of a gamble in the current economic climate as well.

  • @lhbbq

    @EK Water Blocks -I've been contemplating using this case for my next PC build, and the main issue I've come across is the limited provision for vertically mounting the GPU. Even though this case is intended for larger motherboards with multiple PCI lanes, it only offers one for vertical GPU mounting. If I were to use two GPUs with a vertical mount, it simply wouldn't be feasible in this case. It's imperative that the case provides full access to all PCI slots when offering vertical GPU mounting. As it stands, the only way to fully utilize my motherboard in this case is by mounting the GPU horizontally. Furthermore, it appears that this case lacks support for horizontally mounted GPUs.
    While I do like this case, at this price point, as much as I want to hit the pre-order button, I can not because I can not compromise on my expectations.

    For such a pricey case there's a lot of wobbling going on when the top radiator-tray is slid in and hits the back or when the reversed motherboard-tray is slid in and one of the rather thin struts is touched (also weird cut afterwards at 3:55 moving the case, probably a bit unwieldy bc of that).

    The major flaw of the EK cases is that it only supports one type of radiator position, and the previous EK909 had a better radiator arrangement.
    On the other hand it shows how other quality aluminum chassis manufacturers like Lian Li squandered their tradition, and are solely interested in competing with the low cost market segment.

      @@AttilaGobor As a long time EK product user, I want to be 100% honest. Considering the custom designed radiator bracket, distribution plate and cable management system of 909ek, that $1500 price tag was not bad and it was limited to 200 units. But for this product, I have a hard time thinking of its advantages over Lianli’s cases.
