Even though I never seen him play much he was before my time he's one of my favourite all time players. Give me football pre premier league any day of the week before the game was killed with the greed of modern football.

However it is very sad that he came out with racist views and comments which have been documented. In addition ex player Howard Gayle in his book quoting in explicit details the constant racist abuse he suffered off Tommy smith. Very sad and upsetting to read .
