I always always surprised when people say if your craft room is clean you are not using it or you are not creative or it’s not a “real craft room”. Some people are just neat and there is nothing wrong with having a clean craft room.
#16. Sorted. My work area is a set of kitchen units, so I don't have a chair. I always find it easier to work standing up at a proper work surface. Anyway, I couldn't dance if I was sitting!
Yes, I really found that helped in lots of ways. Mostly in understanding what's new and how long it takes me to use something brand new to me. It has stopped me buying new things because I've glanced over to that basket and been reminded of the new things I have that I haven't used yet. It's so good!
Great to see you, Gwen. Great tips. I have been trying to put my scissors, pokey tool, small glue bottle, etc. back in their spot on my desk as soon as I use them, even if I’m going to pull them out again in a few minutes so they don’t get lost under the project I’m working on.
This is so so good!! I can't tell you enough how these (seemingly) small actions will help and you're right, if you place them them, they won't get lost under 10 layers of pattern paper and embellishments lol
Glad you are back, Gwen. I am looking forward to 2025 and crafting with you. Your tips are very handy. I hope you and your family have a good holiday season.
Hey Patti!! Not quite back as often as I'd like but I am doing my best :) I love spending time here. Thank you, I hope you have a lovely holiday season as well! 🎄
I was hearing "A place for everything and everything in its place," and I grew up with that mantra. The only thing I think I don't do regularly is clean my scissors. I love a neat space and organizing. Now I need a "Sit yo' butt down and start scrapping," video.
Oh Nancy, your comment made me laugh out loud!! I think I need a 'Sit yo' butt down and start making video too 😆 Thanks for popping by today and brightening my day.
I am horrid about cleaning my desk after a project because I am often making multiple cards with the same papers, inks and etc., so I need to see where I left off. BUT.. lol I am getting better at getting rid of scraps I don't need!
@@sama.scraps Great tip! I do this for my essential tools as well as any supplies I'm focussing on using up. It's a great catch-all for anything I use all of the time. Thanks for adding this suggestion here :)
@@sama.scraps I just spent the last 2 days revamping my crafty space. I finally found a shelf to put under my desk, my husband trimmed it up for me so It would fit perfectly. BUT, this forced me to go thru just about everything, organize, purge and put things around me that would help me work more efficiently. I now just need to worry about containing the paper mess I create when I craft. haha
I clean up in between each project or page. I also garbage small paper scraps and have accordion file folders for each Color 1 for patterned and 1 for cardstock.
Eeeep! 😆 It is harder with a smaller space, BUT it's kinda more important because it's so much easier for a smaller space to become messy. I totally get it though!
Hey lovely! Ok.. yes, so... here is an example. If you have just one big bin full of punches... to pull the punch you want out, you will need to dig through the bin to find it BUT to put the punch away all you need to do is throw it in. Another idea, if you have a stack of supplies, always just put the thing you've used on top. (Don't store stacked supplies in any kind or real order). If you're looking for something particular you will sort through the stack, then when it's time to put it away, just place what you just used right on top. You're not likely to want to take the extra time to keep things in order. I hope these ideas help! Think of the easiest way to put something back in place... don't focus of how you pull things out. :)
Whoops!!! You're right... I will update the title. Thank you so much for pointing this out. I started with 30 and then only kept the best ones to keep the video 'to the point' and super useful. Thank you.

Agree... that's why I said, if it's ALWAYS neat and tidy. I would say I generally have a very tidy space, unless I'm mid project ☺️
@@CreatedByGwenGwen, thanks for your clarification!
Agree, I like my space craft space organised and tidy. My five year old who likes to create beside me does not feel the same way 😂
@@RosesandBlingPapercrafts 😆😆😆 It's for such a short season, the mess is worth it.

You so funny…. I always push in my chair…. Even when desk a disaster zone! Thanks for great video
Great idea of the new items basket. I’m going to give it a try.

Yes, I get that - it kind of doesn't work if you re-use a lot of things project to project. Although, I do love a fresh start... it clears my mind.
Try using a cart for items you use all the time. It contains the items and gives you more room on your desk. My rooms a disaster so no judging here!

I love the accordion file idea! Thanks so much for sharing it here.
Welcome. I like things to be very organized.
A great video. I watched it twice so that I could take notes! Thank you. 🥰
So glad you found it super helpful Jenny! Thank you!
I always reset my space. It helps me so so so much.
Yes, this one is a big one for me too. There is nothing quite like a fresh start.
I failed at number one, I don’t have enough room

Love this advice! But I don’t understand how to make something easier to put away than to take out?!
