My mom is 65 years old.
The last 2 to 3 years she have been listening to all kind of rock, pop, metal and specially this last one because of me. I've translated the lyrics of already, too many songs to remember. We're native spanish speakers, english is my second native language just because of music and video games.
I wish i could have recorded when she listened this song, she's able to identify and enjoy every instrument already, when 4 years ago she could barely identify guitar from bass.
Rivers of Nihil is a band I've heard of but never really listened to. Maybe heard a song or two but wouldn't recognise if I heard the same song again. That said - I liked it! And maybe it's a good thing to start the journey with this band as they themselves start a new chapter?

Still sounds like them, the 'progginess' is still there. I have a soft spot for these guys having once seen them live here in far distant Adelaide. Sadly, it was without the sax player. I think the group shots in the video were a subtle tribute to Queen and 'Sub-Orbital Blues' sounds very like an episode of the anime Cowboy Bebop. btw I'm honored Hedgy that you chose to quote the young, idealistic me (at 18) but it's Kar-ar-giris. I really liked it. great underlying melody and I enjoyed the vocals quite a bit. Nice opening quote by Peter Karargiris. I've read his internet work and it's quite good.
One thing I enjoyed with Andy Thomas's previous band (Black Crown Initiate) was the clean / harsh singing combo. Looks like he's bringing it over to Rivers of Nihil.
I hear some Queen and Muse in this one, apart from the obvious nornto Bohemian Rhapsody in the video.
