Actually with out the head and block being "o" ringed and a copper head gasket u shouldn’t re use a mls gasket ……..even with copper spray. But that’s your money. Also with a large camshaft you should check piston to valve clearance with the large lobe locked . I applaud your work ethic ! I’ll be watching your build progress ✌🏼
Also to make your life a bit easier I’d recommend timing the engine off of the oil pump instead of assembling the timing cover and attaching the harmonic balancer .
The car was already timed properly, it's just easier to have the markings very visible and outside for easy service. I've taken this motor apart around 8 times now
yeah very possible a faulty injector caused that, test compression with a compression tester to verify. ring land failure or a melted piston, too tight of a ring gap can cause that, leaning out too, too much cylinder pressure because of something, the tune's timing isn't set right for what gas your running, a lot of possibilities. your compression is well high with the set up u have so u have to be very delicate with things.
Hey i have the same motor what is the app or notes or page u have open that showed the torque pattern and specification so clearly I need something like that could you link it

If your valves are too tight the valves will hang open
That is correct. The last was adjusted to the correct spec
Leak down time
