Nice video. I have roughly 1500 rounds thru my xten. Mostly hand loads and the only issue ive run into is with 1 of the mags early on. When i loaded 220gr hardcast, i could get like 13 rounds loaded into the mag and the follower would bind up. After loading 100 rounds or so thru that problem-child mag.. it cleared up and no issues since. Nice shooting! The xten is very accurate im finding.
I quit buying any kind of winchester ammo years ago. The powder is absolutely nasty. Still have some but I dont want to shoot it. That 10mm is addictive
I bought the sig xten comp and had zero misfires with blazer ammo. Only issue is I’m so accustomed to 9mm from my fancy hk with my grip formed to my hand and the low recoil that I got into the habit of not seriously making sure my fundamentals were perfect and the 10mm kicks too much for that to be acceptable. But when I’m not being an idiot my groups at 20 yards are within 2”.
I have been running S & B and Fnnochi aside from a mag issue havent had an issue i have Maxtech now and not a fan i have cleaned out my gun after every range visit i run ~100 rounds and finnochi and S&B have not made me clean as much as maxtech and its caused more issues like you experienced only one stove pipe.
Do you have the magazine issues? Rounds binding in the body? Limp follower etc. I have 800 through mine and on 4 or so malfunctions that are related to the magazines.
I have had more malfunctions with Hertenberger’s 9mm than Fed, Remington, blazer, and even 2A warehouse reloads I should add that this is with a SS DR920 before I switched to Glock mags Now it runs everything without issue, but there was a difference in the brand of ammo while still using Magpul mags
My EDC XTEN has nearly 5k rds fired with no issues. Mostly shoot Blazer Brass, Magtech, Sig (all 180 gr. FMJ) along with Winchester Defender and various Underwood loads. Just started shooting the XTEN Comp. Around 400 rds with no issues, knock on wood. 2-3 months later: I’m nearly 7k rds through the XTEN and at 1k in the XTEN Comp. Still, no issues.
@@andrewmconradI have some Herter’s ammo somewhere. Haven’t shot that brand. Might have to dig them out and shoot them. I tend to avoid ammo not up to “Norma Spec.”
@@chasebraswell6948I’ve experienced issues with magazines with some of my 20 magazines in inventory. 1-10 I consider older and 11-20 I consider newer, but i cannot verify the magazines have undergone a generation change. 1-7 are range mags. With that, I’ve experienced: It’s tough getting 15 in the mag., but I use a Maglula and make that 15th get in there. When needing to load a full mag in the pistol, insert it as far as it’ll go, and smack it! You won’t hurt it. After ?? cycles, the spring loosens up some. If loading to carry, place a round in a mag and chamber the round, then insert a loaded mag. Also, I’ve had the mag follower (or something) snag inside the magazine causing rounds to come out. I’ve shot same magazines through the XTEN with no issues. IMHO, the recoil shakes things in the magazine allowing the spring to maintain upward pressure. I think what might be the issue is the sharp leading edge on the follower and it friction locks, for the lack of a better term. If you look at a 9mm counterpart, it’s rounded. I tried Springer +5 extensions with no luck, therefore sticking with OEM 15 rd magazines. Again, IMHO, Sig did an amazing job making the 15 rd magazine as small as it is along with the grip. They probably could add a millimeter or two in some areas and radius the follower to ensure reliable feeding. Maybe a metal follower? I’m not a gunsmith/engineer.
I have had really good luck with S&B. It's what I find on shelves the most at my location and the cheapest. Flat nose and hollow points are the same price. maybe folks are scared of it but it's 100% for me out of a Glock 20.
This is the problem with 10mm pistols. I only own one 10mm pistol that is actually reliable, my Gen 4 Glock 40 MOS. Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, etc, don't deserve their brand recognition, if they sell unreliable crap. The customers are not their damn guinea pigs. If I have to pull my pistol, it better effing work!
I'd be sending it back to Sig. I'm sure they'll get it fixed for you. That's what I do love about Glock. I had a problem with my 43X. I sent it to Glock, and they basically replaced every part for free. I got it back, and no problems with FTF and FTE. I'm sure Sig will take care of the problems.
Some ammo is crappy for sure. I have never really had trouble with much factory ammo. I know some is DIRTY. WWB 100 CT Value Pack 9MM is pretty awful. But it goes bang with reasonable accuracy for my needs.
if you’re lucky enough to live near the SIG factory , as I am and you rent a 10 mm they will absolutely not let you fire your own 10 mm. You must purchase the ammo from them.

I want a full size reliable 10mm that isn't a Glock. For whatever reason, firearm manufacturers keep screwing up 10mm pistols. They need to be reliable from the factory. My Gen Glock 40 MOS has never had an issue with any ammo. I have a Rock Island Armory double stack 10mm 1911 with cycling and feeding issues. That was not a cheap gun. I expect better from Sig, especially for the price they're asking. That thing should be reliable with all ammo out of the box. I'm really getting sick and tired of major pistol manufacturers manufacturing pistols that aren't reliable. I don't consider RIA a major manufacturer, but Sig and Smith & Wesson are. Both of these companies make 10mm with a bunch of issues. Customers are not their guinea pigs! These companies don't deserve the name recognition, if they're going to put out unreliable garbage.
@@drewlimelight110 it's a nice pistol. It had some reliability problems at first, but I heard that Sig Sauer worked it out. I already have one double stack 10mm that doesn't work for crap. I'm not sure if it ever will. If I sell it, maybe I'll buy this sig.
Hey Andrew! Thank you for taking the time for this honest ammo review! Much appreciated!
Thank you. I'm going to buy a Sig p320 X10 for a birthday gift for myself. Federal is a good ammo.
Refreshing to see your no camera tricks approach. Wishing you future successes 🎉
Wow! Your accuracy has really improved since you started this series. Great shooting!
I haven't had any failures or any issues with any ammo I've ran in my xten over 500 rounds
I’m right there with you about 500 mostly higher end HPs but NO issues.

Sorry, yeah that nose dive on the one round is from the magazine.
4 malfunctions is still unacceptable. If you have to rely on a pistol to save your life, it better work.
FMJ no issues, The big problem is with the defense bullets. PUNCH jacketed hollow point, sig-sauer bullets personal defense.
Thanks so much, for posting this!!!
3000 rounds through my full size and about 1800 through my Compact. Not a hiccup.
