Living in Canada, we have these conditions for 6 months of the year. These people don't have experience in driving in this type of weather and don't know any better. When you step on the gas petal and you start moving, don't floor it, apply gas slowly. When you spin, you have no traction on the road, when you go slow, you or your tires retain contact with the surface and will get traction. And don't turn your wheels sharply if you're stuck, all you're doing is holding your vehicle back and plowing snow. Straight wheels then push! All the best to all to be safe, cheers.

Best advice for driving in the snow; KITTY LITTER & bag of Salt made to melt snow on sidewalks/driveways!! Kitty litter can be used to throw under tires to give traction in the snow & to way trunk down for better traction when driving. Snow Salt is the best for throwing under tires if you’re dealing with ice. Also, good to use on driveways/sidewalks after you shovel them that way ice won’t build up on them overnight. Just keep salting!! Good luck to everyone in the Southern states dealing with the snow & ice.
Yeap my next car is going to be Awd I'm done with fwd cars. I've gotten stuck in the snow too many times luckily I always keep a snow shovel in the back, so I can shovel myself out because no one will help you when your car is stuck. They'll just stand there looking like it's a show, rather then giving you a helping hand.
Im from Memphis and we are definitly not use to this type of weather. I got stuck at the end of my driveway, neighbors helped push my car onto the street.
Summer tires are absolutely useless in the winter. Even new, the tire thread design is too smooth, the crevices fill with snow and immediately results is almost same as a worn tire. With a good set of winter tires, Blizzaks, Michelin Ice-x, these cars would be driving like it was raining outside. Even cheapest winter tire would provide enough traction to just drive right through this for any sedan. Note that All season tires are useless in snow- same as summer tire. It's a marketing fallacy. If you have low profile summer tires, you will not even be able to move. Source: Tested myself, pulled BMW out of garage with all season low profile tires, got 5 meters out and spent next 2 hours trying to get it back inside.
