I once owned an antique and gift shop. I accepted consignment items from those who were trying to downsize. When they were tempted to keep everything, or get rid of everything, I encouraged them to keep a sampling of the sentimental items and donate, recycle or let me sell what they decided to part with. This made the project less overwhelming. Now that I am older, I need to follow my own advice!
I went to a 1200 sq ft home 10 years ago, at retirement will live in a 600sq foot on story log cabin with a bunk house. I know there are many items which will not make the move or go with my son. I will struggle at that point for sure. I love my things , gathered through travel and thrifting.
