Have you tried just taping a small amount of leader film to the start of the roll yet? I made a few so I can prepare multiple rolls with the leader attached before I go out and shoot. I have no problem getting 23 to 24 shots per roll.
I roll it back in a bit so it's easier to load in the camera. Write on the film with a marker to make it really obvious it has the extra bit attached too. Also be prepared to retrieve the tongue from the cassette if you wind it all in after you shoot it. I usually listen to the camera and stop rewinding once I hear the film come off the spool. Obviously you don't want to sent it to the lab with the extra stuff on there. Avoid cutting the original film flush so it's easier to connect the extension. The lab might have issues with that. If you develop at home, I would recommend cutting the film flush then butting the extension right up to it when taping it on.. Good luck!

That's a good question. I've never had an issue with it. It is a moving part which is inherently a question, but I close it after almost every photo and never had a problem.
Thats a really helpful video - many thanks. 2 questions, if I may. Do you use the panoramic mode with any of the lenses out of preference? As the 50mm is already pretty wide angle, does this work well? Secondly, silly question Im sure, but after taking one shot, does one stroke of the film wind lever take you to the position for negative 2?
I only have one lens for my Mamiya 6. I would LOVE to have the 50. It would be a panorama dream but i haven't been able to justify buying it. And yes. Just one stroke between frames. It moves exactly the same as 120 film, but has to be rewound at the end.
After I first used 120 adapters for sprocket shots in my mamiya 645 pro, I cut the length of film that was wasted winding it on and now use that length and tape it to the start of any 35mm that I shoot in it. I use a small amount of masking tape and it works great, and it's the exact length it takes so no wastage of the new roll and I get a few more shots out of it. I'm sure you could do the same here
It's pretty nice to be able to switch between 6x6 and 135 panorama. Another really good option is the bronica ETRSI with 135 wide panoramic back. It's cheaper than the Mamiya 6 MF but not as compact. Although it does have an advantage of F2.8 lenses in that system.
That's awesome. I didn't know that one had a pano back option. I love having flexibility in these cameras. I have a Hasselblad 500 CM as well, but I've never tried putting 35mm through it. I should figure something out to give that a go with a f2.8 as well.
I recently bought the mamiya 6 MF but it doesn’t have the 220/135 label, only rhe 220. Hope thats normal and not an issue when it comes to using panoramic kit

Haha. You're welcome! Also, to your wallet, I'm sorry. 😂 I usually get about 18 photos per roll with the pano kit. It wastes about 3-4 photos worth of film at the start of the roll. If you can figure out how to attach some leader film or whatever, you could get that many more out of the roll.

Plus, a NO BATTERY, more compact & durable 'kit'. - Now for the 20ex 6x3 Pano images from a 120 roll of film : Just acquire the earlier C12 Hasselblad Back & get the simple modification performed to it. Buy the cheap 3D printed 6x3 in-camera mask which includes the optical VF mask (under $75 USD on Ebay).
I'll make the video early in the new year. But basically close the door about 1/2 a frame early when starting to load a roll of 120. But only do this if you're self developing. If you send it to a lab, they'll probably cut through that first photo.

I haven't. Do you re-roll it back into the cassette or just leave it loose? I was considering that but hadn't tried yet.

Could you do multiple exposures with normal 120 film while holding down the pressure release button and winding, or rewinding the 120 film?
to my knowledge, there isn't a way to do double exposures with the Mam6. I wish it could.

That's a great idea. I'll have to experiment with that. I just did a roll of panos so i have the film to test.
