I work in radio in Alexandria, LA, the hometown of Warren Morris. Warren just guest-hosted a radio show we do here, and we watched this video. He had a good time reading the comments. Warren said that he did get the ball back. The guy who caught it wasn't an LSU fan but sought Warren out after the game and said, "I think you'll might want this." He said the bat was one that he only used in this game, and it is currently in the LSU hall of fame. His batting gloves were given to a boy whose family was a friend of the coach. But only a couple of years ago the boy (who's grown up now) shipped the batting gloves back to Warren. As you probably know, Warren did play in the pros for a while, and he has now been a successful banker in town for a long time. He is also probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
He is definitely one of the nicest guys you’d meet. Very humble. He gave me batting lessons years ago when I was playing travel ball and completely changed my batting game. Stand up guy, no doubt
I was there, 9 years old, in left field. It was a truly iconic moment. To this day, there has not been another event to that level of energy. What a great memory.
I went to LSU and was watching this game on TV with my dad. It is still the most exciting memorable moment in the sport of baseball. Great memory. Geaux Tigers
We were driving from Louisiana to Tennessee on a church retreat for a week. We listened till about the 6th inning I think but eventually we lost reception and couldn't pick it up the rest of the way there. Of course we all thought we probably lost. I'll never forget the look on Greg's face when he burst into our room with the news his mom just gave him on the phone: we won it 9-8 on a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the ninth. I knew I would get to watch it when I got home because i told my mom to record it, and I did get to watch it. But it will always bother me the fact that I didn't get to see it live as it happened and celebrate in the moment. That part kinda sucks, I'm not gonna lie.
This article was blown up and framed at my orthodontist, huge Times Picayune! Had one in every single room and the waiting room. Even in the bathroom! Such a cool win.
0:13 Sean McDonough: Now Warren Morris... hits a deep drive down the right field line, that ball is... GONE!!! LSU WINS THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES ON A HOME RUN BY MORRIS! Sean McDonough makes some good calls. Warren Morris will NEVER forget his first home run that season.
Was everyone aware that a Morris, Morrison @ a Morris either played or coached in this championship baseball game between the Hurricanes and the Tigers in 1996 ?
For some reason college baseball doesn’t have many well known moments like football and basketball. This has to be among the top, the only two out game winning come from behind home run in any level of baseball according to Wikipedia.
Tennessee's walk off grand slam against Wright State in the regionals is definitely up there but considering this was a title game nothing will top it lol
He was hurt a really good portion of the season and hadn't been swinging away. He says I the documentary that this was the 1st game since his injury he felt good or something like that , it's been awhile
To this day, he gets mobbed at LSU tailgates for pics and autographs. Dude is beyond a legend in Baton Rouge

I know this is true b/c I live in Baton Rouge and got a picture of him with my son. Always gracious and patient in being mobbed by fans.

Just used Warren on immaculate grid and felt compelled to come back to relive this. CWS was (and still is) the best part of growing up in Omaha.

Didn't the Hurricane breakthrough in 1982 @ 1985 ?
@@scottbaseball8046Yep. They had won titles in 1982 and 1985. And ironically it was a Miami assistant who led LSU to glory
That pitch was six inches below the strike zone and he still hit it out of the park. Incredible!
