Our obedience trainer taught us to work with our puppies to get them to response to an excited, loud "Here puppy, puppy'. One gentleman in the class was too embarrassed to do this. A couple of weeks later he was out walking his dog and he fell. He landed on his back and dropped the leash. His puppy took off. All he could think to do was yell "Here puppy, puppy' in an excited voice. He said it a couple of times and before he could get back up, his puppy was all over him licking his face. At our next class he joined in on the puppy chanting.
I’m watching your video from a village in England, near Lichfield. We don’t have our puppy yet, she’ll be 12 weeks before we do. Excited but it’s been years since having a puppy
Watching from Danville Kentucky. Currently I don't have a dog right now. My Mini Goldendoodle Marley May will be joining me at home in five weeks. Since I haven't had a puppy in many years, thought I could learn watching your channel. So enjoy!
Mental space is super important. I have had frustration with my 8 month old lab/gsd who is totally deaf to me outside. I am working so hard on it. But there are days where I have cried.
Same here my 8 month old border collie seems to not care about me when we are outside is frustrating cause it seems like he's never gonna be able to pay attention if he doesn't explore the place before 😮💨 and in top of that they say that you should not let your dog pull to prevent it and introduce distractions at a slow pace but what about socialization? I can't wait to take him outside until he walks OK on a leash
Hello from Portugal 🇵🇹. We don’t have a dog yet but I already learning again becouse it past 25 years that a had a dog, he was a very very smart poodle but in that time I didn’t had this knowledge about training, but we train Fred like we know and the only thing that he didn’t doing is speak our language 😂...miss him...thank you so much for share your knowledge ❤️
Thank you so much for addressing the issues I was coming up against with my 6-month old Mini Bull (Tya). I started using high-level treats to maintain/get her attention outside and lost her with her usual kibble! I'm going to get the balance right. She has a reluctance to walk at all - it's like a stubborn approach. Yes holding me back, sniffing at the ground all the time...yet even sitting down, lying down and generally being uncooperative. Then suddenly changing her mind and walking at a great pace like a pro. It's tough to figure out what's going on in that head!
Chestermere, Alberta - I have a very challenging 6 month old male Aussie - he is great in group classes, at home, in the yard even our at dog park but anywhere not so much.
I am new - I live in upstate New York. Puff is an almost year old Lab and we have had her for 3 months. Pulling on the leash is my biggest concern. I will check out your videos. Everything is new to her so general manners is important.
I am new...Louisville, Ky. The mom of an 11 month old toy poodle named Louis. I have raised him by following your professional advice.... watch your RUclips videos everyday. He is a fantastic, well behaved and very adaptable pup. Thank you! We are going on a 10 day road trip in two weeks. Any advice?
thank you... i''ve learn so much... i have a 8 wk min goldendoodle.... so cute... this maybe a silly question but i spend almost ever minute training, potty, and supervising her exploring the rest of the time she just sleeps... you two never really talk about how much time you spend on just playing
Sue: New from Homer, Alaska. Also have a new 12 1/2 week border collie pup and I’m doing my best to follow your tips from a wheelchair. I might have to contact you!
New!!! From London! Thank you so much for your amazing help and congratulations on the opens! Could you kindly do a live on luring! I haven’t been able to find good quality information on it, maybe others are struggling with this too? Xxxx
How do you get your dog that's prey driven (the chase) to chase after you besides walking the other direction? This pup is HIGHLY distract able, but such a great pup!💕🐾
I have watched many of your great videos and I always wonder if training with food rewards means that I will have to carry a bag of treatswith me forever. Are they used just to teach a command and then praise is enough? If so, then how do I know when to stops treats? Thank you for your channel, it's a real inspiration as I have a very energetic 7-month beagle and I have lots to learn.
Great question! The short answer is no. Here’s why: The BIGGEST Mistakes People Make When Treat Training A Puppy ruclips.net/video/NGKTn_0garY/видео.html Happy Training!
I have two new puppies 6 months Shipoo and 7 month Bichon. Play well together. Others well not so much Shipoo screams no shrills like a siren. I hear that noise when it is not there. Seems like too soon socializing or anxiety. One came on a plane with me here. It was traumatic. He Tore up the carrier bottom, trying to get out. Plus my daughters Shipoo (came from same breeder as my Shipoo. Well ger dog attacked mine as we got into the car and does not like them at all. They are playful and seem to come in her space both and it is too much. The weird thing is, she has at least 10 neighborhood dogs from neighbor’s. That are her playmates. No for the Bichon Frise 6 months. EARS EVERYTHING including rusty nails. Chewing lije a cud. Smh. Wats tree branches, nails rugs plastic whatever she can. No taste buds. Now, the shipoo is following eating everything including grass leaves green or brown. Loose leash issues but better. Just got the door open down pat. The eye contact is better. I have been studying your youtube videos since the day them. I got them. I have badback issues getying better so only three walks maybe two or one but washable pads only. They shred and eat the pads. You have been very helpful. However, loose leash, paying attention & no pulling are the most serious for me. Previous dog owner nut this time it is completely different. I want them better behaved, then train on reinforcement and teach tricks. I am in US and will need your help soon.
I have a 19mnth old Golden Retriever, we are in training and he does very well with commands however when we do heel work I really struggle to keep him focused. He looses focus very quickly and sometimes I have to put the food right under his nose to get him to pay attention to me.
Same here my dog couldn't care less about food when everything outside is better and when he sees other dogs he whines even if we keep moving or trying to engage
Im watching you guys from Nairobi Kenya 🇰🇪, owner of a 10 months old pumeranian Spit..Still sus in the cage(loose bladder)n picking stuff from outside and eats,What can I do?...
New from Kansas. I have a 15 week old Lab/Border Collie mix puppy. He is SO smart but so easily distracted by anything that moves (he'll chase a leaf blowing in the wind). My biggest problem is that he bites. I've tried everything and nothing seems to help. I am desperate to find a way to stop this so any suggestions are much appreciated.
My dog doesn't get motivated with toys outside. very rare... he needs to smell everything then play ball... i was doing fetch ball everyday in the morning... he catch less and less the ball.. i stop doing... i don't know if i should use food to play fetch to get more motivated :/ he is more focus knowing where other dogs and cats are... he hunts them down and attack them... he doesn't eat or focus on me if a cat/dog is 3/5 meters away... also, my dog is very lazy for a labrador, he sleeps 20 hours a day xD i just do 2 walks a day of 2 kms.
Hey, here's a tip - instead of going all over the place with your dialog, why don't you tell us what you're going to tell us (the 5 tips); tell us; tell us what you told us. I tuned in to hear the 5 tips, not about the trip to Europe and what success she had. 15 minutes in and I still have no idea what even 1 of the tips might be.
