      Why did you skip the ending song? It is different after the first stanza depending on ending, including a easter egg song if you cheat.

      @ranger6477  4 года назад +12

      @@Berthrond I thought the same as you did, so I actually did this again just to record the ending song, but it wasn't worth it. If you beat Liberty there are only two stanzas "They don't know in Arizona" and "Hard times in Arizona" and no cheating Easter egg. It just ends abruptly after the part about praying that Buchanan is an honest man.

      I think it's cool they considered this as an option. But it's pretty clear that wasn't the main intent. I feel a lot of comments here are whining that they didn't flesh out divergent story branches. But to me, it feels like someone complaining a game is too short because "Oh I found a speed-run shortcut to beat a 50 hr game in 20 mins. Terrible game, no content." Is it dumb they didn't write more? Not really. Would it have been awesome if they did? Yea! Certainly.

    • @Wref
      @Wref 4 года назад +9

      @@servbotz That is a fair point, and it would have been awesome if they did. It just confounds me that the game ends here and doesn't carry on as if this outcome happened like it was optioned to be later in the game.

    • @dragerien2
      @dragerien2 3 года назад +2

      @@servbotz I disagree only because there IS the options to kill or capture each of the Buchanan kids, so killing one earlier should've been a rather easy code or even allow a capture at that point. Since trying to capture/kill her IS in the cards, it seems like a cop-out and a bit lazy to just end it there rather than flagging her as dead. I mean, you can walk into the gipper stronghold and immediately try to arrest/kill Valor without doing any of that quest line. Best suggestion would be to then remove the whole "Gotta send November out to deal with Liberty, then radio our decision on Deth vs Patriarch" and make it so you can announce it from the base and start a proper firefight there rather than having to come and deal with a rebellion late.

    I was very disappointed that after the fight the game just ended, not even an achievement for that (hard) fight. Why even make it possible to end the game at that stage, no one would say "well, now that I finished the game I can move on to something else, by the way nice story"

    This encounter was stupid as hell, the game gives the option of which brother to go after first, beating Liberty here should just continue the game like you beat one of the brothers only coming to the end when all three are captured. This just feels like "You didn't follow the plot so you get dead." It would have been so cool to have this encounter be possible within normal circumstances, but be extremely difficult, like how Firkragg was a noob trap that you could beat out of the gate with his first encounter but take allot of planning and effort.

    Nice to know that it was possible, but kind of sucks that it just cuts off there instead of letting you have a full ending to the story. It didn't even have to be long, it could have just been a quick talk to the Patriarch that wrapped it all up.

    • @mediumvillain
      @mediumvillain 2 года назад +9

      There's really no reason for the game to end here at all. Liberty is only one of the three children of the Patriarch the main story of the game is about finding. This only resolves one of those quests, removing the need to complete the Yuma County Speedway quests. It actually makes no sense whatsoever to force an end to the game here, they just decided to put an unwinnable encounter here and if anyone manages to win it they dont get rewarded, they dont get a couple new ending slides, it's just game over the same as if they lost it. Ending Liberty's quest, making the gangs at Yuma either hostile or gone (or still letting you take over with Ironclad Cordite), and adding a couple different pages of ending text would have made this meaningful.
      It's disappointing but I guess not surprising given some of the other major inconsistencies. They couldnt manage a couple different dialogue options and ending slides to make the Machine Commune storyline make sense; if you capture the Reagan AI the MC immediately turns on you with a fairly nonsensical justification, but you can still convince the machine intelligence it was the best option and they accept it, except they dont give you back access to their vendors and the ending slide still says they dont trust humanity bc of you. Also if you fully side with the Machine Commune and are forced to wipe out the Gippers, the Machines still don't restore oil production despite being machines. The Hard-Heads can't take over oil production in Denver either despite this literally being in the game files. So what could easily be a number of meaningful options is ultimately just one choice, the Gippers survive and produce oil or they dont and no one does.

    I'd love if the game just rolled with it. Have Liberty in utter disbelief that you actually took her down. Throw in a line when you hand her over to the Patriarch like, "Yeah, it was really convenient that she just showed herself to known enemies so we could arrest her. No big deal. The Rangers do this every day."

      There was a high level of luck involved. It's basically impossible without getting one of her robots into the "glitched" state, which you can do with hacking or, as I did here, by shooting the CPU with a precision sniper shot. Also, I'm unsure why the caltrop launcher on the Kodiak does such massive damage to the robots but it was a big help. Beyond that, my only strategy was deploying a lot of sawpups to create more targets.
