How do you determine best? What categories are important? Best at drifting? Certainly not, that would be drift drivers. Best at speed on asphalt. Nope, that would be Formula, Le Mans, etc. There's no such thing as "best driver" simply because there's no 1 driver who is best in all categories. It's a naive outlook. Rally drivers are amazing at what they do. And so are all other drivers in the top of their categories.
@@Dyilsrally drivers can adapt at any terrain surfaces unlike other drivers from other motorsport category, but of course they'll have a hard time competing against drivers who are good at their sport. Kalle (the guy in the video) is also competing in formula drift and did quite good at drifting.
@@Dyils You could weight skills. Rally drivers are good at gravel, mud, tarmac, snow, tarmac with water, tarmac with mud, tarmac with gravel, tarmac with snow, tarmac with black ice, tarmac with slush, tarmac with water and snow and ice and slush; at driving over potholes, over rocks, over ruts (massive offenders when it comes to stability, formed over the racing line by the wheels of every passing car digging the road), over constant and totally unexpected grip changes, over massive elevation changes; different surfaces require different vehicle setups and driving styles to take the most out of the tires and the setup, and of course different tire compounds: tarmac tire, wet tarmac tire, snow tarmac tire, studded snow tarmac tire, snow tire, gravel tire. Plus, rally is done without any practice over the stages. Only two passes over most stages. Both stages are timed. The limits have to be found on-the-fly with pure skill, anticipation, and improvisation. Inhuman reflexes. I'd say this makes them, if not "the best", definitely the most skilled and badass.
No (at least because of bluring dashboard) Probably the best onboard video was Kris Meeke AMAZING ONBOARD FOOTAGE From Sweden Rally Test 2015 at night. It was on his youtube channel. But he (or someone else) deleted that channel and now video are not available. Maybe someone save that video and could share it?
Yes. But it also shows how arcade-ish the game's physics are. They need to offer a full-simulation mode. I believe simulators are extremely important for real-life motorsports. I mean, I love rally and motorsports thanks to simulators.
Watching this actually make me realise how authentic EA WRC actually is. All the crazy bumps and drifting sideways you do because of the grooves in the dirt. Just brilliant and it look very similar.
That's literally insane and a miracle that you got through those mud lakes with your yaris! I bet it feels like your in a washing machine when driving on these kind of roads! 😂
Yeah head to head he gets beaten by 2 guys named sebastian, no doubt hes best of the current full time crop (yes I know hes part time this season but still back fully next season) which says we need more skillful big names but unfortunately money has forced it the way of f1, next to no one gets a chance unless you pay your way in.
@@m_ryko No max would be the best open wheel driver as I doubt he could jump into a V8 supercar or a gt3 car and dominate. there is no 1 great driver that can win everything
what information is on the dash that needs blurred? im assuming its not the rpm or the gear since they're barely blurred and shown in the official broadcasts
As a person that can´t read or look at the phone for a few min in the car without getting dizzy, I´m even more impressed from the copilot stomach then the driver!
Not the easiest conditions, with all the water holes and deep ruts with all the mud. It looks to be a tough Rally Kenya this year. Which do you prefer, Kalle? Fesh fesch or rainy season in Kenya, Africa? All the best to you KR69 and Jonne and god luck. 😎👍
Why is the little dash screen blurred tho? What could be on there that thats important. And if so, why couldnt you change it, since last i checked those are almost fully customisable...
Superb camera position! If you could add a yellow strip to the top of the streering wheel so that steering wheel movement would be easier to see, it would be absolutely perfect. And I don't know which camera hardware you used but it was insanely good. Sharp image even with all that movement and exposure was practically perfect! This is basically reference material for all VR games and simulators in the future.
Stunning footage! I'm curious; what is the reason for staying in third gear through the deep mud around 3:00 and 4:17? Wouldn't dropping a gear mean more torque and being quicker through those patches?
The condition is too slippery so you would be getting a lot of wheel spin in a lower gear. A lot of resistance from the water puts a speed limit on how fast you can go through it anyway. And you want to be keeping the RPM high enough through water to avoid stalling
Plus, this is only a test. They not always push hard on them. Sometimes they favor consistency (as in, try to do every attempt as similar as possible to the other ones) over total speed. Pushing hard and with consistency over there is just outright impossible.
Looks like the cars handleing alot better since last year your figgin flying and sailing 😂 💯 do you still wish they had a center diff like the areo cars ?🤙👌
The graphics in those WRC games are getting really realistic! But for gaming I'd turn down the camera shake. It's nauseating even while watching! :D (jk, tosi hyvä Kalle!)
That mechanical stress in racing cars is insane, a stock GR YARIS will be destroyed after driving like this. The abuse stage after stage and it usually survive. I dont need to comment the driving, that was spot on.
It's cool that GoPros can stabilise their footage but this is so much better for conveying the insane changes in direction. If a compression is enough to make Kalle nod his head, it'd probably break my neck.
I always have to remind myself before thinking I am a good driver that I've never rallied. In my opinion that is the ultimate test, if you can control a car like that and feel it like you're part of the car.
I used to think, these rally cars are tough but every video I've seen of them going on bad tracks is just off-road plain dry roads, I used to think they could never drive in our roads ......WELP, I am wrong...the engineering behind those cars are something else....granted our road is a lot improved now, I now believe these guys would've shredded our track even back then. A normal car would have "died" just from those bumps couple times( idc it's a suv of which brand) Apart from rally, I've never seen "any" sport go to such lengths 🙏🙏👌👌👌
As I think rally should get more recognition, I still think driving an F1 car on the absolute limit is more impressive/scarier. The cornering speeds are incomparable. In an F1 car it's all about grip but when you suddenly in a split second go over the limit in a corner going 250 km/h, in a car so stiff and not designed to lose traction the skills needed to safe that are from another level. It makes driving an F1 car way more technical as well as everything needs to be pitch perfect to make the difference on a short lap compared to a stage in WRC. In WRC you have way more variables in a stage that small 'mistakes' almost don't matter, in F1 the smallest mistake is punished way harder. People often don't realise the cornering speeds in F1 due to the huge tracks (run offs), well go watch in person, watch some static camera angles on youtube or onboards of narrow tracks such as jeddah or compare onboards from non-F1 cars on the same track, it's literally slowmotion.
@EASPORTSWRC you guys see this? The rev counter isnt glued on top of the screen AND its used to indicate the amount of boost, just like in the Hyundai. In the Hyundai the screen is inserted in the actual dashboard of the car too, not a "floating" screen. I mean this as constructive criticism, cus I want my favourite game to be as accurate as possible. This video right here is actually worth more than gold, now you guys dont really have any excuses for not having the in game Yaris be like this, apart from having more important stuff to work on, but I imagine it wouldnt take long to implement these chnages
