Let’s go over all the things I have in my goat medicine cabinet! List of items is below! 👇🏻
(anything marked with ‘*’ is something I consider a must have!)
Kidding kit:
*Towels
*Bulb syringe
*Iodine
*Thermometer
*Scissors
*Gloves
*Lube
Battery pack (for phone charging)
*Flashlights and/or headlamp
*Selenium & Vitamin E (paste or injectable)
*Vitamin B complex (paste or injectable)
*Jump start
Probiotic
*colostrum (fresh, frozen or powder)
electrolytes
*Tube feeding kit (for kids that can’t nurse)
*Toltrazuril or Zuricox (treats coccidia)
*Pritchard Nipples (for bottle feeding)
Tums
CMPK (for preventing/treating milk fever)
CD&T vaccine (prevents tetanus and enterotoxemia)
*Syringes
*Needles (I use 22g 3/4 inch)
*Rubbing alcohol and cotton balls (for cleaning injection sites)
ID bands for kids (paper wrist bands)
Notebook and pen
Scale
Kidding record sheet
General herd health:
*dewormer
*Broad spectrum Antibiotic (I use Bio-mycin)
Terramycin (antibiotic eye ointment)
*Specto guard (antibiotic treats scours/diarrhea not caused by parasites)
*Liquid chlorophyll (treats anemia)
Red cell (treats anemia)
Nu-stock (treats wounds and mites)
Banamine (pain reliever, only available thru vet)
Alu-shield (aerosol bandage)
Ultra Boss (for lice, ticks, fleas, flies)
Copper bolus
Balling gun
Miscellaneous:
Bander with green bands (for wethering males)
Mastitis indicators
Disbudding iron (removes horn buds on kids)
Disbudding box (holds kids for disbudding/tattooing)
Blood collection tubes (for bio-security testing)
Disposable Syringes with 1 inch needles (for blood draws)
Tattoo clamps and ink
Forms for record keeping (health, registration etc)
