No, brain processing is not just 'on' and 'off' states, or worse '0s' and '1s'. I look forward to when we stop hearing these over-extended analogies. Then, we have a chance to actually understand mind.
Thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely correct, the analogy is a simplification of how the brain works. But whether it is fitting or not is something that divides the scientific community. I could write a novel on the topic, but the TED format is much more compressed. Here are a few of my thoughts: The brain's functionality can crudely be divided into 'learning' and 'thinking'. Learning is the strengthening or weakening of connections between neurons and thinking is the spiking of neurons. These processes are highly influenced by other factors as tiredness, hormone balance etc. I think the similarities between artificial and biological 'learning' are vague at best. The artificial 'learning' is commonly done by 'following the slope' using differential equations. The brain is certainly not using differential equations to learn :) But while an artificial neural network usually has a slightly different architecture than our brain's spiking neural network, I still think it's a pretty good approximation of 'thought'. In both cases it's basically neurons signalling each other. We're even able to replicate 'human' error on a number of tasks by artificial neural networks.
100% that's another reason why its impossible for a.i to truly be more advanced because not just the brain but also because those who made it are still not advanced to super genius levels of what we call divine Intelligence... ( one can say consciousness ) so theres room for error...an a.i can learn based on certain patterns in nature and humans but for me the way I describe it is basically that the Intelligence of the subconscious realms is far superior...heck...even if someone were to go in their subconscious take control and download information from that altered state...a.i. is basically still a watered down version of that intelligence.
Fear not... Kurt godel has proved that no turing machine complete his ever capable alone to solve any Fields Medal Problems, yes that kind of Matematical problems that only Math Genius is cable of… so relax ..and enjoy a nice ice cream...Muahahahahahaha…..
Totally Undermining The Human Mind

Thank you for your further thoughts on this very interesting frontier.

@@spiritakarabbit369 because the brain is a extremely complex object , there more neurons and synapses than there are galaxies
