I recommend reading Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn. Helped me change my whole perspective on how we treat children as a society. My kid is 2 and we thrivingggg. You’re gonna be great. Thank you for wanting to learn 🦋

There's this book called 'Drama of being a child' by Alice Miller that I reallllly recommend, it's an incredible read to understand yourself but also would be interesting from the perspective of a mother to be I reckon! Take care xxxx

The first publication of Drama of Being a Child and of this 1997 edition are separated by fifteen years of experience - the author's experience with her own self-therapy and with other recent therapy methods, and finally her knowledge of the life histories of the several thousand readers who have written to her. The research into childhood she has undertaken in this period has led to further fine-tuning of her earlier findings, as is documented and illustrated here with an abundance of examples. The author examines the consequences of repression at personal and social levels, the causes of the physical and psychological harm done to children and how this can be prevented, and finally the new methods at our disposal for dealing with the consequences of infant traumas.

my recommendation would be don’t read any parenting books tbh, just treat your child with love and acceptance and pay no participation to the self-help market of capitalism that has been scientifically proven not to work and be unhelpful, the reverse of what is is supposed to be lol
p.s. I don’t mean that to be negative but if there was a great book that REALLY worked, everyone would have it! but they don’t, as a perfect parent doesn’t exist - but being good, caring and respectful is the most important factor !
a book can never teach you that and you already have the empathic qualities that you need in order to fulfil your child’s emotional, psychological and physical well-being in regards to both the nurture and nature aspects of bringing up a human in this world we call earth !!
