Lawn mower ramp fail gone right?!?

- Bought really nice aluminum ramps to be able to drive my brand new mower to an area that I had to previously weedeat... It didn't work like I was hoping. I got stuck on the ledge and impatient. It ended well but bent a ramp.
The deck was as high as it could go. There's been a lot of comments about backing down, and I do agree it could have worked, There's just no way I'm trying it again to find out

Gotta get the job done. I personally, would have used a push electric. But to each their own. On a commercial scale, you gotta get er done. Those ramps look cheap.
Wouldnt let him cart my shopping about in a trolley never mind operate machinery

If the roll bar is up, his seat belt should be on. It's not. Otherwise he'll fall off during the roll, and the bar could gouge him. The reverse goes: no roll bar, no seatbelt, in order to jump off the mower in the event of an unexpected flip to prevent being pinned down.

Now this is what I call lazy lawn mowing. I would definitely be putting a twenty one inch lawn mower up there
💯
Used to run a landscaping company - it’s not even a question.. anytime there’s an elevated patch of grass the little guy comes out. We’re not ruining the riding mower for a $20-$30 lawn
@@LightsaberGoBrrrrrr must have run your business a long time ago. $20-$30 is 1980s prices where I live.
@@JustinBieber4evah I last did it around 2016 or so. And looking back on this comment I believe I misspoke. I for some reason remembered prices as being from $20-$40 depending on the lawn but it was definitely $40-$60. Regardless, I'm not destroying my riding mower for that ish. Time to carry the baby push mower up the ledge
@@LightsaberGoBrrrrrr I was going to say, because most lawns that I service, $40-$60 is the going rate. $30 is the bare minimum for super tiny yards. I got properties what scale from as low as $30 all the way up to $200 / per week.
Aside from being obviously dangerous your entire weight was hangin on that deck and you were forcefully dragging it across the wall. That's an expensive piece if equipment and a foolish way to work. Any boss worth his salt would've fired you.

It wasn't perfect but he gotter done . One of my tree guy's did mowing to , ordered a zero stand up yrs. Ago , a guy delivered it to his job . One of the guys got on it and moved to the back of the property , within the first min. He was sliding into their pond . Got it cut off , called the new owner asked if he would come with the strap . Pulled out , let it set for a couple hrs. Then gave her a start ,,, good to go . Said it was solid as the others . I think he said the drive tires were close to being under water . Bless ya'll

*_"Well, technically I STILL haven't 'done this' right yet."_*

I'm not a lawn care professional but even I can see that would never work well. Just plain common sense should have told him the grade was way too steep, the ramps too light weight and he was in way over his head. He's lucky both he and the mower survived without serious damage or total destruction of one or both.
The ramps are fine. He’s just an idiot
Nah, it worked out. I now consider it SOP.
Would it not be better to reverse down? Lol
He can't drive forward and you want him to reverse?! 😂
@@brianm7402 all of the weigh is on the back end, when it comes to machinery and hills you always keep the weigh on the low side not the high side. you have more control and stability that way. plus, he may not have gotten hooked so bad on the wall either backing down.
The pros always make it look easy

Glad your ok dude. That could have flipped pretty easy. I been mowing about 12 yrs man. I was on a steep hill with a tundra trailer and truck had wood in front of the tires break on and in park the whole truck trailer took off down the mtn. I was able to catch it but dang you talk about scary.

Try putting a 2x4 in front of the retaining wall so the tires will ride up over it better.
That would have helped. I just got high centered. Ramps are bent, and I'm too scared to try again
@@bearosborn 😂🤣
Not to tell you how to do your job...but evidently someone has to. The high centering wasn't just bad luck, it was a failure to use common sense. A proper ramp on the other side would have prevented it.
That same poor judgement is what prevented you from stopping and reassessing the situation. At the very least turn the front wheels around to prevent them from steering you off the ramps, and have your friend put down the camera and help lift you up onto the wall.
But you just gunned it and hoped for the best.

"Have you done that before?" Clearly he hasn't because look at the before and after of the ramps.
True
You need to build the dirt up against the wall in just one section. That way you won't get hung up on the lip of the wall. Also think about putting some concrete anchors in the wall and install some eye bolts. Then you can chain your ramps so they won't slide out.
Actually, all of that makes perfect sense. Thanks for the thoughtful response

That yard looks like a ton of fun to mow
Story time what time I was working for a anonymous municipality and we were loading a zero turn John Deere onto a trailer, but the thing about this trailer was the only way you could get up on the stupid thing is you kinda had to give it some gas on the trailer or on the mower And for some reason one of my coworkers thought it was a good idea to unhitch it the trailer from the truck and I wasn’t paying attention and I shot up that trailer and because it was unhitched that hitch flew up and was literally inches away from knocking my coworker outand it probably would’ve killed him. I still to this day don’t know why he did what he did, and I don’t know why I wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing. I think I was just trying to psych myself up for the jump but we got it on the trailer and nobody died.😊
