In the South we call it dressing. We don’t put it in the Turkey. It’s a separate dish. I think it’s called stuffing if it gets stuffed in the Turkey. My dressing is requested by many people. So it’s a must have at Thanksgiving!! It was passed down generations.
Mine too, requested by my husband thruout the year! Definitely dressing, yo me, stuffing is nasty.
My parents were southerners and we call it dressing (cornbread) but we also stuff the turkey with the “dressing” as well as make a side dish. So stuffing? Dressing? Either is just fine.
Oh I’m so curious what do you put in it?
@@lynnsalberg5647 cornbread, chopped very fine onions, celery and boiled eggs. Then I also cook a hen and put its meat and then lots of broth until it jiggles. It gets cooked for 2 hours and every 30 minutes it’s pulled out and extra liquid gets put in it.
@@angelapettway9512 Thank you !!!
I was born and raised in the South and we call it dressing. It is cooked in a separate casserole dish and NOT inside the turkey. Pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert. I always enjoy watching your decorations, they are beautiful.
... I remember that we always used nice plates, no matter how many people were there for Thanksgiving... for the Desserts, nice paperware is something that would be fine . We used the crystal, etc , because it was so enjoyable to see the sparkle , and not be so " casual ".
Real napkins, except for Dessert . My Grandmother taught me that " we're not at a picnic , use real tableware " .
We called it Dressing, and it was made separate, in a nice big casserole dish.
A lot of things were prepped and made ahead the night before, except the pies,... those were assembled and baked while other things were being prepared. ( my mother and Grandmother always had a homemade pie crust in the freezer .) The day of ,the turkey was put in the oven, the gravy was made, the pies baked and everything else just had to be warmed up, except the homemade biscuits.
We have dressing that’s my Mama’s recipe, passed down to daughters and granddaughters, and made in a HUGE electric roaster. We usually have around 35 people at our family Thanksgiving, so setting one table is out of the question-usually it’s buffet-style with casseroles, Crock Pots, and roasting pans all over the island, counters, and stove tops! Dessert(s) is set up in a different spot with room for pumpkin, bourbon chocolate pecan, and apple pies, along with sugar cookies, brownies, and banana pudding, we have 2 turkeys and a ham, along with sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, two kinds of cranberry sauce, broccoli/cheese casserole, green bean casserole, fresh peas, lots of deviled eggs, fruit salad, scalloped oysters-it’s a FEAST!! Come on over-everyone else is! Love your videos-they are restful and informative and sweet. ❤️🦃
Sounds exactly like our family! I have 27 grandchildren! Plus we always invite extra people who have nowhere to go. The more the merrier!
Stuffing! In the bird! Celery, onion, giblets, apples and dried cranberries! My favorite dish of the meal!
Hi pretty lady how are you doing,
where are you from?
I'm lucky enough to have a dining room table in my dining room and also one in my finished basement. I also set up a card table so I usually have enough seating at tables to accommodate everyone. Since that's my situation I go ahead and place the napkins, silverware, salt/pepper, and butter on each table so nobody has to juggle that on their way to the table.
We call it dressing. We don’t stuff the turkey . Since our parents have passed on we still get together but the whole turkey has been replaced with just a breast. We use the buffet method and it is so much better. I love your decor and ideas. As always , love your video. Have a wonderful week ❤
Stuffing in the South, for sure. We are about twelve every year. I always make sure everyone's favorite dish is represented. Whether its, dessert, veggie, or other. It makes them feel so happy to see grandma cooked their favorite.
In South Africa we don't celebrate Thanksgiving. It's so lovely to watch all the hype going into this day. I've never tried pumpkin pie and not to sure how it tastes. Enjoy all of you.
It is definitely stuffing at our house. Some in the bird as my dad who passed away at 95 always wanted that. Then a casserole dish on the side because we always needed extra stuffing. Also every year when we ate, he always said "your grandmother made the best stuffing in the world". No one ever compared to hers. And of course, no one wrote down the recipe!!!!! I urge all of your subscribers to ask everyone to bring the recipe on an index card with their dish. Then make up a family Thanksgiving recipe book . Aunt Minnies pumpkin crisp... Mamas mashed potatoes... Uncle buds buttermilk biscuits. If you can take a picture of each person ,their image could be on the recipe page too! Make one for all your family members. What a treasure.
Texas here… born in Louisiana. We call it cornbread ’dressing’!🥰 And our family has a separate table for desserts! 🤣 We love to bake and have a huge spread! Banana pudding, pies, cakes, candies… all of it!🥰🥰🥰
I’m from Chicago. We called it stuffing.
I use the recipe I grew up with. (I’m 73) But I do like to add some craisins to it. Yum!
Hi pretty lady how are you doing,
where are you from?
In the UK we call it stuffing although most don't stuff the turkey or chicken with it, we roll it in to golf ball size portions and serve it in a separate dish :)
Love this video. You have such great ideas!! I think in the south, we all call it dressing. At least here in Tennessee, it's dressing.... one of my favorite sides!!
Thank you. I may develop a gift of hospitality because of you. 😊. We call it dressing in Ohio. My favorite is Holiday Mashed potatoes with cream cheese.
Hi pretty lady how are you doing,
where are you from??
Love that you have your house decorated for Thanksgiving and not already Christmas.
Our family calls it stuffing here in Southern California. We do put it in the turkey. We stuff it right before we cook the turkey. I always use real plates ( My mom's dishes she used during the holidays ) and real silverware. ( yet I do use paper napkins) My husband and I have all the holidays and have 20 people now that our family is growing with our Sons-in-law's, their parents, siblings, and our grandkids. Everyone helps so much with the cleanup and loading of the dishwasher. I am so grateful for that. I loved your buffet decor. We use our island as well. I am going to take your suggestions. Great ideas and so beautiful!
I've always called it dressing, even though the bird was stuffed when I was a kid up north. I liked the simplicity of the buffet, pretty and effective
It is never to late to learn, sewing is so easy. I have been sewing since high school 🙈a long time ago 😂I just taught my self to make a quilt for my new granddaughter. I started with an easy pattern. I really enjoyed it and look forward to making my next one.
Dressing. Makes me hungry to think of it.
Definitely call it stuffing, here in MA!
Apple pie is the favorite, along with the pumpkin.
NOW I WANT PIE!!!
Here in Florida we call it dressing. Ours is cornbread dressing with peppers, onions, and celery mostened with cream of chicken soup and chicken stock. My mother and grandmother used to make their own cornbread, I buy the ready made dressing cubes in the bag because I just can't match their cornbread skills. Pumpkin, lemon meringue, and chocolate pies for dessert.
This Hoosier calls it stuffing 🥰
I love all your ideas. I also put food on the buffet and decorate the tables. I have been hosting 30+ people in my family for years and have made a “Thanksgiving Bible” to do all my planning (happy to share if you want to see it). I have it down to a science now. 😄 I do have real plates, napkins and glasses though. It takes about 2 days to get through all the dishes, but it is so much fun that I don’t mind. We also do the Christmas present stealing game after dessert since a lot of us won’t see each other at Christmas.
I’m in Texas and it’s dressing. My family never actually stuffed it into the turkey. Her mom’s cornbread recipe is to die for and the main thing my family cares about.
We grew up calling it stuffing but I call it dressing as I don’t put it in the turkey and I make it vegetarian so my daughter in law can eat it. We live in western Canada
Texas here...we say dressing. My mom's is the best! We have pumpkin pie, chocolate pie and pecan pie. 🥧
Thank you for doing a Thanksgiving video! I know all the Christmas content will be bombarding us and it's nice to see someone addressing Thanksgiving. I am guilty of decorating for Christmas way to early in the past, and I know it's a youtube thing....but each year I feel the pull to slow down and enjoy EACH season as it is here. Too much rushing in today's world and not enough stopping to enjoy it. All that being said, very nice e video and some great tips. I really enjoyed it.
Hear hear! Love celebrating Thanksgiving!
Call it both lol
My grandma’s apple raisin dressing and sage stuffing we have! I like to have pumpkin, French apple and pecan pie
Love the "dry run" idea for planning where to put the dishes
It's stuffing in our house! It's not Thanksgiving without homemade Cranberry bread. Orange zest with orange juice is a must in the cranberry bread recipe!
Hi pretty lady how are you doing,
where are you from?
Mississippian and we call it dressing. Sweet potato pie is my family's must have for the Thanksgiving table.
stuffing and pumpkin pie my favorite - we call it stuffing :). Nice video thank you
Leslie---------another great video---You explain everything so well and your ideas are wonderful--Enjoyed watching.
I live in the South and we call it dressing at my house. I use my grandmother's recipe and I make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It brings back special memories. My favorite food would have to be the pumpkin pie although I really like all the food. lol. Thanks for this video. I also use my island to set up a buffet for all our family gatherings.
I’m from Texas, still live here, and my family has always called it dressing. As to desserts, must have my grandmother’s Ice Box Lemon Pie!
Thanksgiving in Canada has come and gone but great tips for next year. Buffet is the best for a crowd. We call it stuffing even though I always make it in a separate dish. Love your colour palette and the remote control candles are great.
Well, we call it dressing at our house!! 😊
I call it stuffing. The last few years, I make it in a casserole dish and I like it much better because it's a little crispy instead of too soft. Pumpkin pie for sure and with real whipped cream! Awesome. ideas Leslie!!
This was so helpful thank you Leslie I’m originally from Iowa n I call it stuffing I live in Florida n still call it stuffing. Dressing is something you put on top of salads.
Grew up in Boston where it was called stuffing! I googled and 74% across the country prefer stuffing. When food poisoning came into “fashion”, folks stopped stuffing hot stuff into a cold bird. We followed along and began to cook the stuffing separately. My husband is a fan of oyster stuffing! Great video today!
My hubby likes the oyster stuffing too…not me! He is from Pa
Thanks for sharing ♥️.. Dressing(cornbread)♥️.. blessings to you and your beautiful family 🤗
Leslie and Jason, dressing and stuffing at our N. CA house!
I have been enjoying your videos as a new subscriber. What a joy it is to tune in. You are so great making me feel like I am just your neighbor stopping by for a visit!
I know you are sharing both your happy times and some difficult times too. Thank you both for all of it …and you hard work to help provide for your family! May God bring many blessings your way this Thanksgiving!
We really appreciate you watching! Thank you so much!
In NC we call it dressing. In Texas my family says dressing as well😊
I call it dressing! Southern part of WV , It's a separate dish for us, not in the Turkey. That's my favorite and then the pumpkin pie is my next favorite, made from scratch of course! 😊🦃🥧
I love your videos because you don't assume that people know something! I like that you explain what your doing and why and all the details! Thank you!
I grew up in Minneapolis MN and my mother always called it dressing. As the years went by and my mother passed, I noticed people all around me called it stuffing. I have used this term since then because I have found that most people call it stuffing.
I am happy to say, thank you, that I will be using a lot of these tips from this video for the upcoming holidays.
Thank you very much for your very informative video today!!
I think calling it stuffing or dressing is regional. We put ours into the bird so calling it stuffing seemed appropriate but even when I cook it outside the bird in it's own pan people in my region call it stuffing when I would call it dressing. I put wild rice, mushrooms, onions and celery in mine and my mother always put pork sausage in hers.
I too grew up in Mpls., and called it stuffing. We always stuffed the turkey and I still do. It's the BEST because you get so much of the turkey juices in the stuffing that way. I live in ATL now, and I know that a lot of people in the south call it dressing.
We’ve always called it dressing. I have said stuffing at times. Personally I’m not a fan of pumpkin pie, of course we always do have one, but a must dessert for our family is red velvet cake. It’s a recipe one of my mom‘s brothers gave us. And no we don’t do the cream cheese frosting. Our frosting is made from milk, flour, butter and sugar. And it makes the cake! Yum, thank you I’m so hungry now for Thanksgiving dinner!
We call it dressing. Totally different stuffing. But I love both.
Every year I make a red velvet cake (mine has no cocoa powder) and almost every year I make Jean bars(a lot like 7 layer bars.)
Your decorations always look so pretty.
Thank you for the hosting tips. Your attention to detail, organization and efficiency is much appreciated! Your videos are delightful!
Fall is my absolute favorite so thank you for creating beautiful fall decor ideas! Love using the clear pieces.
From Louisiana. It’s called dressing in the south. Beautiful decor and such elegance! I LOVE watching your channel! Thank you!
Lovey table settings. Good suggestions for layout of the food before the day of.
Thank you for celebrating Thanksgiving! ❤️ 😍🥰 One more month to go before Christmas! And I love Christmas! Oh stop it! Happy Thanksgiving! With FAMILY and Turkey, dressing, I mean Fried Turkey!!! "Dressing", Pecan praline Sweet Potato Casserole, Mashed potatoes, gravey, Cranberry sauce!!, Creamed corn, Broccoli Rice Cheese Casserole, Collards/Turnips, Pumpkin Pie, sweet potato pie, Pecan Pie, Caramel apple cake, thankfulness! Lol! I've been making plans. Then... Christmas!!!! I can't wait! I make the bomb "Dressing'!
Hi pretty lady how are you doing,
where are you from?
Stuffing, from the north 😊 pumpkin pie, stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce
Hi Leslie, thanks for the tips. I always serve buffet style but don't usually put the extra pizzaz in that you do. I will now! I do have a fall theme floral design on my dinning room table, thanks to you. The little tips you give make such a huge difference! They brighten a room and my spirit. I'd gotten out of the habit of changing decor for the seasons/holidays but you have restored my creativity and have given me the umph I need to embrace the holidays! I love the glass pumpkins in your center piece! Very classy but simple.
It's stuffing in NY!
We call it dressing here in SC or in my home. I make my Mom's recipe. It's AMAZING 😍 love all of your tips. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. Your table scape is absolutely gorgeous 🤗💓💞💕
Thank you for a thanksgiving video. I think everyone else has skipped it and move on to Christmas 😳. So this was sooo nice because I needed some inspiration.
Looks so pretty and functional! We always do the buffet style👍 and it's 'dressing'👍💕 and paper & plastic..anything to make it easy clean up!👍 That pumpkin beverage server was just too cute 💞🥰
Dressing!! Cornbread dressing with giblets gravy. The very best!! Growing up, we always had banana pudding and coconut cake. But my son and two grandchildren love chocolate pie. I have perfected the very best homemade chocolate pie with mile high meringue!! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!
My favorite is homemade cranberry compote! I can skip the stuffing but the cranberry sauce is a must!
Hi Leslie, this was so much fun and so helpful! I live in Florida but am from the North East and we always called it "stuffing" and probably always will. Thanks so much and have a blessed day!
Best pie: fruit of the forest pie….it has berries and rhubarb. Delicious!
You are the best, Leslie! I love continuing to learn the art of homemaking from you and you are INDEED an artist! ❤ My favorite pies are the fruit/berry ones. And growing up in MN we called it stuffing whether it was in the bird or not, that was just the one term for all. Most people didn't put it in the bird. I'm in KY now and for the last 14 years - I think most would say dressing.
Dressing made in a crock pot is a game changer.
We call it stuffing here in Il. My mom and her sisters made mouth watering stuffing. Those days are gone but we have their recipe. Your ideas were helpful. Plus the table scape
is adorable. Thanks for sharing. My favorite part of dinner is the turkey. I wait patiently for Thanksgiving to arrive every year. See you next week. You and Jason have a great wk.
the iron on hem tape is also called Stitch Witchery, it is at JoAnns orvany sewing store , in notions! Happy Thanksgiving...love the dressing!😁😁🌹🌹
Always love it all in your videos! We have to buffet it, there are too many of us! Love the little pockets for the silverware. I’m in Texas so we call it Dressing because Texans don’t stuff the turkey. I’m so ready for some of that dressing!!!! 🧡🍁

Made with cornbread and white bread. Yummy!! Always look forward to your videos when I wake up from my Sunday afternoon nap!!
We call it stuffing. Still cook it in the turkey, we check the temperature of the stuffing to make sure it’s safe.
Great ideas. We've already had our Thanksgiving in Canada, but there's always next year. Thanks Leslie.
Hi this was enjoyable to watch. Love the white table ware and the little individual salt and pepper pots are adorable thank you x

Thanks for these tips! Your decor is always beautiful. You really need a show on TV-- you're so talented! We call it stuffing. My fav pie is pecan but my family loves pumpkin so we have both. Excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas.😁 🍂🦃🎄
THANK YOU, YOU DO SUCH A BEAUTIFUL JOB WITH DECORATING.
We call it stuffing because we've always stuffed the turkey, however, I like it dressing style so we do it that way as well 🙂 Pumpkin cheesecake is my favorite dessert, and because I'm diabetic I've learned to make it low carb.
Thank you for all you do, I love your videos and watching you on Instagram.
Love this video, and your tablescape and set up on the island are beautiful You have the best ideas for hosting, thank you. Xoxo ❤️
We call it stuffing. I make chestnut stuffing just like my mom always did. My relatives that will be coming to our home were just saying this weekend that they can't wait for my stuffing. Thank you for your beautiful ideas. I really enjoy watching your videos. You are always so cheerful.

No turkey in my dressing since we are vegan and have vegan Thanksgiving. I just love your vibrancy Leslie. Thank you so much for being such a joy and inspiration. I know your challenges as I am carer to my husband with FrontoTemporal Dementia. Your hubby is so lucky to have such a loving partner and family!
