Yeah... it doesn't try to be a Pantera song and to make a straight comparison this does not hold up to Pantera (drums, guitar, bass or vocals) but as a COVER its a good one.
PieroHD thats not the point actually. When you have a signature song and you try to put your own twist to it you just sound like a f****** idiot because that's the whole point of the original song and what makes it so badass so when you try to change it you sound like a f****** douchebag and rarely do people change songs and make them better. The whole point to covering it is because it's fun because it's a great song. One particular example that I can think of off the top of my head of a song that was actually improved by the cover is what you're doing by Rush that was covered by Skid Row on there b-side ourselves album. The whole album is great but only five songs long.
Stevie Wander songs aren’t always meant to be played the exact same style. Jazz songs do this all the time by changing from swing feel to Latin, Street Beat, and they even change the time signature and tempo. No two performances by each band is exactly the same, and that’s what made Jazz so interesting. The same is true for things like this, and even the Punk Goes Series where metal and punk bands put their own style on modern and classic tunes.
Why is people bitching so much about this? It's a pretty damn good cover, the guitar solo is pretty much 100% perfect, vocals are different but still pretty decent IMO, drums are perfect, bass is cool, what's the problem?
Oh Yeah and dude the original had the same awesomeness behind it and personally bro this one cover that'll definitely go down in history as one of the best. I'd rank this at #1 though bro
Pantera's was better, but this is good. Too bad Pantera's fans are mostly fanboys and girls that hate any band that covers Pantera now, sad really. Dime would be proud of Bullet for covering this beast of a song in his honor. Rock on Bullet fans. \m/ R.I.P. Dime \m/
I'm not a fanboy, but I am a massive fan of both Pantera and Bullet For My Valentine. Tbh, I have heard better covers of Pantera, but this is still a very decent effort by Bullet. It just sounds too clean for Pantera, and it doesn't sound much like Bullet either, I dunno it's kind of wishy washy for me. Still a decent tribute though
FeldbergThePlayer Like I said. Pantera's will always be better but they did good compared to say BMTH's cover of Eyeless. My ears hurt after I listened to that.
Agony is the price That you'll pay in the end Domination consumes you Then calls you a friend It's a twisted fall Binds are like steel And manipulates the will To be And it's hard to see How soon we forget When there's nothing else left To destroy It's a useless ploy Your eyes will see the dawn of the day And the writing on the wall Those words that stare into your soul And to yourself you will befall It's domination Pushed into living hell Domination A now blacked heart Is reaching out in divinity Body suspended by chains over razors And nails It's a penalty Each razor a vice And each nail marks demise Of your life Grim construction grows And life played a trick Sealed you in brick by brick 'Til your end Forcing you to bend Your eyes will see the dawn of the day And the writing on the wall Those words that stare into your soul And to yourself you will befall It's domination Pushed into living hell Domination
Breakdown and Solo are the jet components to covering this song. I doubt Bullet set out to sound better than the original, and were merely paying respects to the metal gods who paved the way for their success. You can’t deny the brutality that takes place on this track. Pure masterpiece.
It's not fucking metalcore holy shit, it's a metalcore band playing a metal song. Even calling them a metalcore band is pushing it, because they only had a metalcore era and the rest is pure metal.
Nope. They're metalcore. They have more in common with Killswitch Engage than Pantera. Don't take that as me being a dick, I'm just being honest. It seems that you guys don't take pride in the metalcore label. Well, I came to tell you that metalcore is one of the most expansive genres in metal. So show a little pride. However, genres don't exactly matter. If the music is good, the music is good. That's all there is to it. If you like it, you like it. Don't worry about what the hell it is.
@@Somewhere_Bagel Well yeah. That's because they changed. Originally, they were metalcore, and due to the prominent influence in their sound, they're still kinda metalcore.
It's a nice take on a classic song in the metal community and it brings out the essence of the song under a new light which is Bullet's way of paying tribute to the metal Gods that Pantera were (and still are)!
I like this version, I've heard panteras version and honestly I prefer bullets, only because of the crazy rift at the end. I must loose 000s of brains cells when I listen to this from nodding my head so much!!! Rock on
Honestly I approached first to this cover than the original... I think it helped me enjoying both... but still the first you listen the most you love imho...
pantera is my fave band and i can honestly say this is a decent cover the vocals at first are a bit too much but it seems to blend in as the song proggresors and decent guitar too aspetialy for a band like these covering dimbag's guitar work is pretty decent well to be honest matt tuck and micheal paget are two evey underrated guitarists
Growing up as a teen I loved this song. I thought it was an original for some time till I discovered the original from Pantera of course. I think the original is a little out dated (a remaster would be nice) which gives this one the edge over it. I thought the vocals were really good back in the day. Loved BFMV. Now re-visting this song and have consumed death metal for almost a decade now, I think the vocals could've be done better. Not death growl per say, but alot more of a cleaner, clearer growl would've been nice. Outro still has the kick so....still a pretty good cover!
It is a song about the destruction coming from a dominant power. It also mentions how people get too sucked into their power and end up destroyed by it in the end.
This isn't metalcore at all, though. It's not even remotely metalcore, stop letting fucking google tell you what genre things are and use your god damn ears.
Honestly, I've learned it's pretty damn hard to cover all lengths of Pantera tracks. Maybe Vinnie Paul on drums, but nothing can match Phils vocals, Dimes solos/riffs, or Rex' bass lines. It's almost impossible. Too damn impossible to touch. Give them credit for being influenced by Pantera. But this cover doesn't do me justice. In all honesty
The closest might be dan donagan from Disturbed. Dimebag basicly taught him every trick he knows now from when they were touring for ozzfest i believe it was.
another one could be Jerry Cantrell. Cantrell has so much magic on his solos. He's actually the one to blame when it comes to Damageplan. Both were on a car when pantera splitted up and dimebag showed jerry a few demos of Damageplan. Alice and Pantera used to be pal's from hell, Layne and Phil actually were together on Thanksgiving day back in 1998. And for god's sake, let's not forget Zakk Motherfucking Wylde. In my opinion, he would be the best pick when it comes to a Pantera reunion.
There is nothing wrong with the instruments o.O idk why people are bitching. the tones are better than Dimes and they made the drums heavier. And the solo is pretty much the same. The vocals aren't the best though.. but yeah. obviously some people can't get Dimecock out of their face for two seconds to realize the cover is actually decent.
The album is not called tears don’t fall. That’s just one of the best songs from the album. It’s actually called poison but good job with everything else.
I respect bullet for paying homage to Pantera, but... you can't replicate Phils voice. I like the different sound in guitar but.. The original defiantly. I was excited to hear this but meh w.e
even they wanted to perform this song through a new way the original is still the best and the cover of vocal is really not that impressive this song shouldnt be express by this kind of vocal BUT still a pretty good tribute! Especially ive already lost interest in this band
I'm a HUGE pantera fan. And it's safe to say this is a good cover
Yeah... it doesn't try to be a Pantera song and to make a straight comparison this does not hold up to Pantera (drums, guitar, bass or vocals) but as a COVER its a good one.
exactly
Of course it's not going to be the same as the original, that's the whole point behind covering a song... They gave it their own twist.

Indeed! This is their tribute to Pantera!
I guess you are right

Agony is the price
That you'll pay in the end
Domination consumes you
Then calls you a friend
It's a twisted fall
Binds are like steel
And manipulates the will
To be
And it's hard to see
How soon we forget
When there's nothing else left
To destroy
It's a useless ploy
Your eyes will see the dawn of the day
And the writing on the wall
Those words that stare into your soul
And to yourself you will befall
It's domination
Pushed into living hell
Domination
A now blacked heart
Is reaching out in divinity
Body suspended by chains over razors
And nails
It's a penalty
Each razor a vice
And each nail marks demise
Of your life
Grim construction grows
And life played a trick
Sealed you in brick by brick
'Til your end
Forcing you to bend
Your eyes will see the dawn of the day
And the writing on the wall
Those words that stare into your soul
And to yourself you will befall
It's domination
Pushed into living hell
Domination
Lyrics are wrong.
