    At 6:32 you state that filter caps block DC and allow AC signal to pass through but that's not so with filter caps: they smooth the rectified AC (which is rippled DC) by storing voltage during the upward cycle and releasing it on the downward to smooth it out. The caps you're talking about are signal caps (a.k.a. blocking caps) that pass AC and block DC.

    When the electrolyte breaks down and the layers of foil short together, the failure is catastrophic and the cost of repair is high. Forget the nostalgia and change the damn things! Collectors are weird. They belong in a rubber room, preferably with double or even triple padding. Go ahead and rant about this to your heart's content. Youre not only right, you might even save a few amps.
