I saw this video about a year ago and disagreed with his outlook. Now I'm beginning to re-evaluate. I question how bad my depression can be if I don't think about it and label it as a bad thing. It loses its sting. Now, when I feel that emptiness overcoming me and dragging me down I just go with it. I don't think a bad thing is happening, nor do I try to make it into a positive. I just remove all judgement and thought from it and it no longer becomes a thing that I desperately wish to flee. When that happens it's no longer a problem or a detriment to my peace of mind.

As someone who has "battled" bipolar depression all my life, I feel totally at ease with this approach to depression. I have seen it in my life. The more I fight, the deeper in the mud I stand. Letting go into it means dumping the judgement/expectations, doing exactly what you must to feel reasonably comfortable, and loving oneself with all the love of which you are capable.

Highly unusual perspective that makes sence when you except what surfaces as nessesary to be able to release and heal and that not all we feel is our own feelings but at times we are helping others refine their stuck and unresolved pain. This will also pass again like a thunderstorm and then everything with expand afterwords. Thank you Tayor for this precious insight. Love ight to you

And never once have I come through this path in the woods without discovering at its conclusion, at least one but usually several extraordinary insights which make it all worthwhile.

There are different types of depression, so I warn you against harshly judging those who are depressed and calling all selfish. It is much more complex and all depends on the person and how they suffer. Maybe I misunderstood your comment, however calling a down person selfish is probably the worst way to attempt to help them. We often come down on ourselves hard as it is, and half the time we do not feel we deserve more. Hard to understand unless you've felt it, but most are not selfish.

Feeling sad equals depression. It is society’s conditioning that feeling sad is a bad thing. But without experiencing sadness we could not experience joy. Life is just happening the way it happens and feeling sad is just a happening, not a choice. We do not chose when we are conceived and we do not chose when we die. Or do we? The truth is no one knows. Everything I had is burnt or burning, not through my choice, it is life happening. Sadness ....an absence of vital energy is how it is. This is the suchness of my experience and I cannot change it. By not making it into a problem my energy may transform in the same way a river sometimes is just a trickle and another time bursts it’s banks. The river does not chose the volume or intensity of its flow. I can see clearly that my energy flowed entirely differently In my past when I was on my outward journey of attaining, acquiring and building what then collapsed. Having found inner peace and my true quiet nature my energy has adjusted accordingly so I could do this inner work. To become still and quiet. This talk has given me a new clarity. Thanks be.

There are different levels of depression, having a bad day, or feeling sad is normal, but major depression is a serious illness that can kill a person if not treated. He obviously has never been chroically depressed, he's only speaking of mild depression that everyone gets once and a while.

I agree. I've been seriously depressed and almost committed suicide. I got help and now I'm doing great. There is help out there.

I disagree. I had an episode of depression lasting almost 2 years. It wasn't lack of energy it was a horrible experience. The worst thing I've ever touched in my 33 years of life. It put me twice on a windowsill. Once I was stopped by a man. That was the actual attempt. So the lecturer suggest that I should go for it? Jump? Be in the fullness of it?
Furthermore, the lack of energy to do get up from bed? Yes, dear sir, and to go to work. Be in the fullness? I live on my own. If I won't go to work or even worse if I go and won't be able to earn my money...do you suggest I should become homeless? I'm sorry but in my opinion it's nonsense. The only thing that helped me was antidepressants and good psychiatrist.

I need to challange what this man has said regarding his statement that not one person has ever surrendered deeply to the label depression and extractined and transformed that power!! I have and many many other people I know! To extract the power from many so called afflicitive states is how many thousands are now

Hi friends, this idea is nice maybe for minor issues. also important for self learning etc. however - in our world every 40 sec a person commit suicide - 800000 in one year - this thing is not THE answer. also - although there is a good learning in not trying to fight something - in many many cases - negetive feelings etc comes as a signal from our soul that we are doing someting wrong, there are endless things we can and should do to fix our lives and souls - just doing nothing and observing the moment - will leave us without changing our behaviour - and might leave us with missing our lives purpose - my opinion all the best

@MegaYogateacher Hi man, i think you didnt listened right, because he actually said the same thing you are saying.

how do you cure depression? theres no cure ...drugs? they will make you more deperessed...what else? drill a hole in your head? that might help actually cos samadhi glimpses during meditation happen more pronounced in the open air...spiritual practices yes they do help for a few minutes after you've done them than you're even more confused and scared it will take a lifetime of mediation to cure it how do you go about right now?
