  • From Season 8 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episode 9: Holiday for Henpecked Husbands which originally aired on November 26th, 1961. This episode was made for the Anthology series during the "Walt Disney Presents" run on ABC, which explains the opening titles. It re-aired under a different title in the 70s and 80s: Goofy Takes a Holiday (12/5/76, 5/11/80 and 7/5/81). This particular upload was aired on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service which explains the black and white presentation (and some of the unusual transitions in the opening and closing credits). SUMMARY: Goofy wants to go out to play golf, but his wife keeps him busy with the spring cleaning, much to his chagrin. As he toils, Peter Pan Goofy, the Spirit of Imagination, appears and continuously gets Goofy to daydream about a more adventurous life to make his labors more fun, all set to footage of some of his cartoons. Edited out due to copyright are the following shorts: Hello Aloha (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Complete Goofy), For Whom the Bulls Toil (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Complete Goofy), How to Be a Detective (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Complete Goofy), Tiger Trouble (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Complete Goofy), A Knight for a Day (Disney+), How to Play Baseball (Disney+), Two Gun Goofy (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Complete Goofy).

Wow, it's a real treat to see Walt's intro for the first time! The title card and intro were excised from the version shown on the Disney channel, probably due to the cultural review editor determining that title and intro were insensitive to some people. Thank you for posting it!

Oh yes, for the armed forces overseas. A few episodes of "The Jack Benny Show" Don Wilson explained that some episodes reflimed or taped goes to the armed forces overseas.

The Disney Channel later repurposed this program for a special called "Goofy's Guide To Success".

I have that episode...maybe someday I'll get around to posting those episodes with the Eisner intros. I watched many of those live when I was a kid on Sunday nights.

The fact that Walt's schedule mentions Von Drake's name proves that this is a "Wonderful World of Color" episode, since Von Drake did not exist during the ABC era.

Interesting how this print of the episode has the Walt Disney Presents opening sequence whereas the NBC airing would have used the Wonderful World of Color intro. But then it makes sense as this is not a color print despite being produced in full color.

@@keepingwaltindisney However, it was withheld from airing until the series moved to NBC, which is reinforced by a closeup of Walt's schedule, which indicates a "Von Drake Showing" at 5:00. By any chance, do you happen to have the actual color version of this program, opening titles and all? If so, can you please upload it?

1:53 read all the scripts over the weekend? Well in my case, small price I'm willing to pay if I become director and creative executive producer for the media production work. But after all these years, I'd be happy that I would finally working in a field of interest where I rightfully belong.

By any chance, do you happen to have the actual color version of this program from NBC, opening titles and all? If so, can you please upload it? When this was shown on The Disney Channel, it did not even show the later "Goofy Takes a Holiday" titles, let alone the opening with Walt. It just began with Goofy trying to leave.

I don’t have that version, sorry. I only have this one that was released by Disney to the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service…and this is fine for me, since Disney planned on airing this during the Walt Disney Presents run, which was, as you know, all in black and white.
