    I work in spine surgery, and the best thing I can tell you is to increase your core strength if you keep having severe muscle spasms. It helps stabilizing everything.
    And honestly, stay aware of that numbness in your feet... could be a dic bulge/herniation. If the frequency of the symptoms increases, might be worth getting checked out and getting an MRI for a better look. Nothing to freak out about, 30% of people resorb disc herniations, but also something to be aware of. Hype your'e back!

    First time commenting: I ran the first couch-to-5k run today! I’ve ran it before (maybe twice in my adult life) but have always given up and have never gone back for the second run. I’m determined for this not to be the case this time. I really want to know that I can stick to something and that I have the willpower to overcome bad health habits.
    Thanks Cody and you all for the inspiration! Reading the comments is one of my fave parts of any cody trains video (meant to be a compliment haha sorry if this sounds backhanded). Hope you’re all feeling good :))

    • @sp1d3rn1nja7
      @sp1d3rn1nja7 Месяц назад +2

      @@kattpuzn Yeah I am pretty light, only like 20% BMI, but the key is consistency. I would run 5 to 6 days a week, typically a speed workout, a long day (around 10 to 13 miles), and the rest of the days averaging around 6 miles. Dont make excuses either, I'm a college student but still work my ass off in any free time I have to be a better runner. Cutting out sweets also helped me a ton (candy, cookies, soda, etc). Most important part is consistency. Get your legs used to running longer distances so when you go to do it it'll feel like a long run that you're just pushing harder than normal. Also good sleep never hurts either

    • @kattpuzn
      @kattpuzn Месяц назад +2

      @@sp1d3rn1nja7 all solid advice, thanks a lot. Motivation is not a problem :) its been hard running for me, I'm 6.2 feet and was 237 pounds at my heaviest a few months ago. Down to 198 pounds now, shooting for 176-187 pounds before the half marathon. Running is getting a lot easier and I cant wait for warmer weather. As long as I can stay clear of injuries, sleep and eat sufficient amounts I'll be golden.
      Thanks for the answer, it helps to hear from "normal people" not just influencer athletes

    My mom and I took public transit shopping today, despite the rain. We both had the day off. We didn't want to struggle to find parking AND pay for parking. It was a fun outing. In the "lower rainland" if you stay inside every day that it rains, you'll die of depression.

    Living in Washington you become very use to running in the rain. Honestly I’m at a point I prefer to run in the rain than it be a super sunny day. The heat becomes suffocating and the cold/ rain feels so fresh. Also there isn’t as many people on the road so that’s always a plus for me.

      @@danylozanoo463 i started taking a little bit of extra time to walk before i would start my run to get the blood flow going and that seemed to help? i also changed my gait a bit (i was kind of like stomping which was putting a lot more strain on my feet) so both of those things could be worth a shot. my buddy said sometimes if your shoes are too tight and they can restrict blood flow. i hope you find a fix please let me know if you do 😭
