Not only is this genre of music a joy to listen to, I do love the refreshing and playful call and response rhythms and melodies that flow at its very core.
Touched by a Higher Power. Not religious, but Julie Fowlis is one of these people who comes across as so pure -along with her talent - that you have to think that there's a different dimension at work somehow. The whole band is good too.
"The Soup Dragon" was composed by Gordon Duncan [ RIP ], I believe, and he should get credit for that. Great playing from all concerned. Julie is a tremendous whistle player.
pumpkingutz1 If the other guy has some actual sources, he might be right. I've seen her using this same whistle often.. Just by look and sound, I personally would guess the BW Black Satin aluminum ...
I haven't the slightest idea, frankly. It might have been misclicks for all I know. Or some 11 year old in a surly mood. Or whatever, it's not important. The music is your gift, enjoy it! :-)
Ms. Fowlis is a cultural treasure. May this beautiful live on forever.
Julie , alegras los corazones y los pies se mueven con tu música... Saludos desde México!!!
Authentic, very beautiful, sung and played with heart.
With great love from Bulgaria !!!

Superb! 🎵
According to most sources, she is playing an Eb whistle, probably by Abell
She plays that whistle and sings so well that it's only a shame she can't do both at once!
+Villagejonesy How do you know she can't?
+Olivier Legendre A person would need two throats for that!
+Villagejonesy You're so boring ;)
Villagejonesy, even we can't do that! :-) :-)

C W Abell whistle.
Fantastic! What kind of whistle is she playing?
Ah ... and on bouzouki - young lord Blackadder!
Is this Scots or Irish music???? Or just GREAT music???
Since it's Julie Fowlis, I would guess Scottish.
Though her husband Éamon Doorley is Irish lol
I would say both, since they are neighbors and the ancient celtics covered all that island the music embrace both countries :)
Even if they argue about it :D ;)
She Be A Real Bonnie Lass Lads, But She's Probably Too Sophisticated For The Likes Of Us Heathens Anyways... ... ... Toast...
What kind of flute is that?
It's a (Eb?) whistle made by Abell (www.abellflute.com/whistles/).
