Fact check: Do fast food jobs pay more than entry-level military positions?

  • U.S. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-NY, recently compared military wages to fast-food workers: "You can work at some McDonald's in this country for more money than ... signing up for the military."

    What are these other benifits? Cause they sound like stuff I'm not using.

    Also dont forget the military always promises things in your contrantc like student loan repayment, bonuses, and guess what they dont give it to you and dont have to. Military members work more hours with no OT

    Veteran and military civilian here: any military member that lives in Southern California after 3-4 years 90% of the time takes home over $3,000 a pay check, after full medical, dental, 401K and full retirement pension. So unless fast food worker is making 130K a year, military is the better deal. And mind you this is a kid that joined at 17-18 and is now 21-22 making 6K take home. Please comment your take home pay monthly and your yearly salary.

      That’s because the pay incentives over there compensate for the standard of living…because places like San Diego are expensive to live in’
