i think you may just not understand the idea of modern art! art is meant to convey emotions, with pleasant appearance being a secondary objective. as a famous example, the banana taped to a wall. not very pretty, but it sure made people feel a lot of things! as a less well known but still not uncommon to hear about, the box fan in the plexiglass case. that one had a story to it about the artist’s partner who died of aids and their partnership was not legally recognized, meaning the artist had no claim to his partner’s belongings. the fan was the only thing he had left of him. That’s such a powerful feeling!

People must be dumb… that is skill, tried this form before and it is difficult as fuck, getting the perfect cones, wide direction of the bucket, hours of work with an understanding of the abstract art this is. You can’t do this any old way and end with something so cool, I reckon with the canvas size and paint used this is easily 7000-10000 at lowest, depending on how well known can make that higher but also galleries will sell it for more artists only get a portion of actual selling price that’s usually below 50%, the laziest and best selling art is the prints and wide distributed products for the royalties and rights to the art, this is why art (even stupid ones) are expensive, it’s shared to pay everyone involved

This is a lot cooler than running the pendulum rig over an already-finished grid. Actually accentuating the geometry of the pendulum effect rather than adding it as an afterthought.
