The Cat King is played by openly gay actor, Lukas Gage. He’s also known for Euphoria, You, and White Lotus as well as a film he co-wrote called Down Lo, which stars he and Zachary Quinto. It’s one of the zaniest, madcap films I’ve ever watched.
I love how you immediately went Long live the King BEFORE even getting to his human form and... ALL OF THAT. Well to be fair, his cat form is fabulous too.

Dark whimsy is indeed excellent (special shoutout to the peripherally grotesque transformation process for Monty the crow) and this show is just so creatively morbid and fun in so many ways. Took me to the last episode to catch those barnacles on Tragic Mick's jacket but yeah how cool is that?

Thank goodness for someone just calling out the beautiful filmmaking and practical effects. Yes I love the show for the characters. The acting the crazy story but the look of this is so beyond anything else I see on TV right now

As someone who was OBSESSED with TM and Hale Appleman, I can't believe I didnt think of him for the Cat King. You are SO RIGHT. (Also, RIP TM, so sad it just stopped for no reason right before the end of season 4 😢. Truly a mystery.)
(Also, I haven't had the same relationship with the word "whimsy" since that whole debacle and the head writers saying it was "whimsical 🤪" what they did to Q. Having been there in real time, week to week, how interactive on Twitter the whole team was throughout s4, etc.
Very few things leave me this heated after over 5 years, but here I am. Still incensed.)
Imo the best is still yet to come. The first couple episodes are pretty good, but there's some fantastic stuff later. I got so attached to these characters.
I think my brain just went into crazed demon siren noises during that first scene with the Cat King, and I don't think it has left. Whatever notes I was trying to take while binging became incoherent (or I didn't even take notes, I don't remember).
Btw, I want to find out who wrote the line "You guys are like a dead married couple on acid." and give them the greatest hug in human history.

OMG!! YES!! Heavy on Hale Appleman!! I love that man; my God, I was obsessed with Magicians and Elliot was and still is my favourite and jeez, how perfectly Hale played him😫
I know you're loving that Ruth Connell is in this, which means you're a Supernatural fan. There's one episode in this season directed by our favorite SPN trickster, Richard Speight Jr. (And one episode directed by lesbian director Cheryl Dunye, who directed the critically acclaimed film The Watermelon Woman. And one episode directed by Amanda Tapping, who was also in SPN as well as being one of the stars of Stargate SG-1.)
The show was amazing. And for everyone who want season 2, please go and tell all your friends about this show too. Netflix will cancel show if enough people are not watching.

I think it's kind of a gray area and it's best not to worry about it too much lol. Edwin is far from a child. He appears stuck at 16 and may be inexperienced sexually/romantically, but he's an independent individual who has been ghosting around solving supernatural crimes for 30 years, and he spent another 70 in Hell before that.
